Dr. Lourens Johan Willekes II

Dr. Willekes is one of a kind. My husband kept getting diagnosed with pneumonia. Come to find out it was actually a tumor. Dr. Willekes was so thoughtful and was amazing during the surgery. He was always so easy to talk to and would even reach out during the evenings and weekends to check on him. Wish there were more doctors out there like him.

Dr. Willekes did lung surgery on my husband, probably saving his life. He is an excellent doctor who listens to all of the patient's concerns, answers so that a non-medical person can understand, and takes all of the time that you need. We never felt rushed. The surgery went perfectly, with no complications. We have complete confidence in him, and would recommend him to any patient without reservations.

At first thought this doctor was a life saver. Had complications after surgery. Was ignored. Belittled. Made to feel like I was exaggerating the fact that I could feel a metal plate moving. THEN this “dr” decides he’s closing his practice. Doesn’t return emails or phone calls. “His secretary quit”. Excuse after excuse. Had to have a much more intense surgery to fix what he messed up!!

When an emergency room Dr did open heart surgery and messed up, Dr Willekes redid it. After living in constant pain, he found the problem and fixed it. The first Dr used staples where he should have used screws . I wished I could put his name in here but I’m sure I can’t . It only got worse with number one Dr.,my sister got the same ER Dr two weeks later. She died after 6 months in the hospital. My advice, when an ER Dr. says he is going to perform surgery, call your Dr. or call someone who knows someone who has had it done and use their Dr.

Dr Willekes saved my life. He's professional and very thorough. I would highly recommend him and his team at Monmouth Medical.

Best Doctor ever met

Dr. Willekes is one of a kind in everycategory! He is an exceptional doctor, surgeon who treats with the same respectand dignity as he would his own family.He saved my life big time ... and evenseemed a bit embarrassed when my familyraved about his skill and bedside manner. Dr. Willekes truly is the man who best displays whaat a true medicaldoctor is and should be!! And yes, don't be surprised if you too give him a hug for saving your life in the verybest way possible ... I know that i did!

I was told I had to see a thoracic surgeon immediately because of something on my CT scan. He was calming, personal and intelligent. He performed surgery and provided very good care. Fortunately, the findings were not cancer.
