Dr. Loyd Avery West, MD

The doctor correctly diagnosed my issue from a CAT scan done at another hospital. The surgery went perfectly. The doctor spoke with my daughter immediately following surgery and visited me in recovery. I went home the same day, minus my ovaries, a large ovarian cyst, and my fallopian tubes. The next day at 5:30 pm the doctor called me to personally inform me of the pathology reports. I have just recommended him to another woman without hesitation.

Less than one star. I have never met a doctor that is more rude, condescending, insensitive, and unprepared. I drove over two hours to leave in tears, without any further information, comfort, or answers. I was made to feel like a lowlife who was wasting his time. I have lost faith in my Dartmouth Hitchcock team and wouldn't recommend this doctor to my worst enemy.

Dr. West performed my hysterectomy after a cancer diagnosis. I had a very easy recovery and have an excellent prognosis. He does gentle, but thorough exams and is very organized. My pre-op consultation with him was the most productive hour I've ever spent with a physician. Dr. West did a great job of explaining my procedure and my test results . He was optimistic, but didn't sugar-coat. He met with my family after the surgery and looked in on me twice during my overnight surgical stay. I trust this doctor completely and would recommend him to any gynecologic cancer patient.

I had a robotic assisted total hysterectomy for endometrial cancer. I believe that Dr West is an excellent technician. I felt satisfied with the aftermath of the surgery, but I never saw him again after I went into the OR. He did speak to my family, but not to me. Should I have to face further cancer treatment, communication and compassion in a care provider are so important to me that I will see someone else, but I am thankful for his specialized skill.
