Dr. Downey is a wonderful physician and person! I have 4 children, so I have spent quite a lot of time with her. She has a great bedside manner and listens to my concerns. I have a special needs child who she is fantastic with! I would recommend her to anyone who has children!!!

Oh how I miss Dr. Downey! She was in the Waynesville, NC are many many years ago. She is one of the most fantastic pediatricians I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The first-time I met her was in the office about lunch time. She came in carrying this little brown basket with a decorative cloth with a drawstring closure at the top. My first impression was "how rude! She's on her way out to lunch and is so disrespectful that she brought her lunch into the examining room with her!" It didn't take too long to find out that the basket contained her stethoscope and other examining implements (which really relieved me!) Dr. Downey really impressed me, which, with me being a nurse, was difficult to do. She saw my 6 children ranging in ages from newborn to 15-years-old. She never failed to get the diagnosis correct and was always very down-to-earth.My children, now 13-28, are in good hands now, but I miss Dr. Downey and her good-natured spirit and wish she would return to the… beautiful mountains of WNC.
