Luis Angel Duharte Vidaurre, MD

Dr. Duharte is a dedicated and board-certified Infectious Diseases Physician. He is fellowship-trained in Infectious Diseases, having completed his fellowship (and served as Chief Fellow) at VA Caribbean Health Care in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His clinical interests and focus areas include antimicrobial stewardship, infection control, epidemiology, HIV/AIDS treatment and management, and emerging infectious diseases. He is currently an Infectious Disease Attending Physician at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. Dr. Duharte is fluent in both English and Spanish. Dr. Duharte began practicing medicine after earning his Physician in Medicine from the University of Buenos Aires, School of Medicine. He subsequently completed his Internal Medicine residency at VA Caribbean Health Care. Currently, Dr. Duharte serves as an academic mentor guiding medical students and residents through evidence-based practices at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. His areas of …focus emphasize patient-centered care models, individualized treatment approaches, and the development of strategies for antimicrobial stewardship and resistance management. Beyond his direct clinical care at Lake Erie College, Dr. Duharte's leadership roles include serving as Chief of Infection Control, Chief of Antibiotic Stewardship, and Chief of Medicine at past institutions. He also acted as Medical Director for Advent Health Sebring Wound Care Center & Hyperbaric Medicine from 2006-2013, where he pioneered advancements in infectious disease treatment within wound care. Dr. Duharte has successfully operated his own solo practice, Luis Duharte & Associates, MD, LLC, since 2013, distinguishing himself as the sole Infectious Disease specialist with hospital privileges in his area and establishing a trusted reputation in the medical community. He continues to serve as Chief of Infection Control and a Health & Infectious Disease Consultant at Advent Health in Sebring, FL. Dr. Duharte was honored with the ""Attending Physician & Doctor of the Year"" award. Dr. Duharte's philosophy regarding patient care is to treat every individual with the same time, dedication, and commitment he would invest in those closest to him. He believes the most rewarding part of being a physician is to assist others, provide purpose in his work, intellectually stimulate himself through challenges, and offer quality education and mentorship to medical students, residents, peers, patients, and family members, while delivering quality care and compassion. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Duharte enjoys spending quality time with his family, traveling internationally to experience new cultures and cuisines, admiring God's creation through nature and hiking, and trying new recipes in the kitchen. He views himself not only as a doctor, but also as a father, husband, educator, learner, and leader, integrating these values into everything he does.
