Dr. Luis Javier Herrera, MD

I would not recommend. Although he is a skilled surgeon all they really care about is getting you into surgery to make money after that they could care less. The doctor or the staff doesn't really care if you have a serious issue after surgery.

If this site cannot be maintained and reviews kept up to date it ought to be removed. BTW, I worked in the OR and can testify that Dr Herrera is committed to all facets of surgical excellence!

This is doctor is amazing. Do not consider another doctor. He is the king of divicina rebotic surgery. I would not trust another human being with my lungs. He is the best of the best. Patients love him. I love him. We should all love him

Overall, the patient receives very poor care. This doctor does not answer or explain nearly anything of the operation--before or after even though the patient is told to ask any questions. Patient concerns are disregarded or answered in curt, evasive language. Contacting staff for help is useless. As soon as the operation is complete, while the patient is still under drug effects, he is told to find a new doctor to carry on with care. Seek another doctor for your own mental and physical health.

This doctor explains a minimum of the procedure in the scant amount of time he actually talks to you. His staff is non-existent for help. Hospital care is completely without patient dignity. Medical records are inaccurate both for data as well as interpretation. Patient booklets are media hype. If I could write this review without giving any stars I would have. This doctor needs to be probed.

I had hernia repair surgery at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH. It failed and I had to have it redone. Dr Herrera did the second surgery. What a difference. The after surgery pain was much less, he was much more attentive, explained everything thoroughly. Surgery was a success. I highly recommend him. Very competent experienced thoracic surgeon.

A member of my family had surgery with this doctor. When asked if he would be performing the surgery he said yes, but instead he had a resident perform the surgery and there was an error made. He covered up like it was nothing. It was a big deal. His staff is nice, but they are very flighty with no follow up. Would never recommend this physician or Orlando Health Cancer Center to anyone who wants to live. Go elsewhere because they are sloppy. Don't let the commercials or the reviews sway you, it is only media to make him look like he is good. Friends told us not to go there as they had a bad result, but we went because of his in office bedside manner. Don't be fooled, because bedside manner does not mean the person is the best. It was horrible and the follow up was only a cover up for what happened.

The best

Dr Herrera operated on my esophagus. He did more than a few things to improve and repair my esophagus troubles which were definitely hindering my quality of life. I had difficulty swallowing, many times choking and having to use my nitroglycerin spray. I often could only eat a few bits of a meal because the food would stack up in my esophagus which made me feel full. I had a horrid cough which plagued me most nights, all night long. It was a wet could which made it sound quite unpleasant. These are only a few of the many problems that I suffered. So far, I have none of those symptoms! It is a new lease on life to be sure. Needless to say, I have all the respect and admiration one could have for such a surgeon. I must mention his PA, Melissa. She is a jewel. She explains things so well and makes a visit with her enjoyable and even fun. She is very caring and easy to talk to. I look forward to visits with Melissa.
