Dr. Luis Fernando Lara, MD

Due to my symptoms, I was referred to OSU for a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I would not recommend Dr. Lara if you are going in for a procedure due to his lack of bedside manner, blatant disinterest in my case, and rushed conversations with myself and my wife after the procedure. (This was also during covid when my wife wasn’t allowed in the building. His phone call to her was less than 3 minutes and did not allow time for questions. She works in healthcare and noted that she would never treat a patient like this.) My results were available to him (based on scan date into MyChart) as soon as 24 hours after my visit, yet it took approximately 16 phone calls and over 30 days to get results conveyed to my primary care physician. Overall, I feel that Dr. Lara was very uninterested in my care. I know the time/communication issue at OSU GI has not occurred for others I know (my wife included), so my suggestion would be to save yourself the headache and request a different doctor.

I have been to Office 3 times after referral from primary care, advised I didn’t have w that I had or know my proper medical history. Three different times advised he needed to obtain medical records even after completing proper forms his office has never sent request for medical records. Called Office 1 1/2 weeks ago advised someone would call within 48 hours. Still waiting on that call. Thank goodness my condition isn’t terminal. Because I would have died waiting him to do his job. Don’t waster your time you can obtain better care anywhere else.

Dr. Lara is amazing doctor. I had a wonderful time visiting because he truly does care about his patients and takes the time out to make sure he answers all the questions you have.
