I was misdiagnosed with hypochondria by Dr. Deaton. What made no sense was that it was physically obvious that i was seriously ill. I weighed a skin & bones 108 lbs & had serious digestive symptoms when i saw Dr. Deaton (forced to go by a since diagnosed narcissistic husband who could not cope with an ill spouse). I needed support to cope with the trauma of falling so ill & to find the right diagnosis. (gastroparesis due to autonomic neuropathy due to ehler danlos syndrome, i turned out to be even more ill than i could have imagined). Instead week after week, she told me she was 100% sure I was a hypochondriac. I was so weak & unwell, I initially couldn't fight my husband (the one who actually had a personality disorder) forcing me to go week after week to Dr. Deaton, based on her convincing him that, yes, i was a hypochondriac. This made it much more challenging to get to the proper emotional & medical practitioners which i finally persevered & did. It was a nightmarish experience.… While I didn't find Dr. Deaton warm, I am sure she had good intentions but her week after week being so insistently off the mark added greatly to my duress. I feel I would be remiss to not share this information.
