Dr. Lydia C Caros, DO

Lydia is a pediatrician and the CEO of the Native American Community Clinic. She has been providing pediatric health care to Native Americans in the metropolitan area for almost thirty years. Her special interests over the years include the prevention and treatment of lead poisoning, which was an enormous problem in the Phillips neighborhood when she first started practice in the early 1980s. For the last 20 years or so, along with general pediatrics, her special activities have been focused on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. She is one of the few physicians in MN trained to do the medical part of the FASD evaluations, and she completes over 200 per year. She has been active in providing training across the state to professionals and families about FASD. She is a strong proponent of making regular and thorough screening for prenatal alcohol use as the standard for prenatal care.
