i saw Lynn alford NP in the Kapolei VA urgent care. can’t believe she figured out my fast heart beat and heart problems so quick. she got me to queens west ER in Ewa Beach quickly. saved my life. i hope i get to see her again in person and thank her

NP Alford was excellent. I specifically requested her as my provider but apparently she travels from different VA clinics to help fill-in for doctors who are on vacation or who have resigned from the VA. We need more providers like NP Alford. She was thorough, and listened to my concerns. I have mentioned this to the VA hierarchy and I have heard many positive experiences with her. When I read the other ratings, I just refused to believe it. There are a lot of unhappy veterans who get care at the VA but it’s not the fault to the providers. It’s a mental health thing thank you VA for providers like NP Alford. I hope I get to see her again.

During the appointment, I felt uncomfortable and triggered by the way Ms. Alford presented herself, and I expressed this to her directly. Afterward, I decided to return to my previous primary care provider, Dr. Lee, and scheduled an appointment with her for Friday, June 6, 2025. On June 4, 2025, I received a call from Nurse Practitioner Lynn Alford informing me that she had canceled my appointment. I told her that she did not have the authority to do so and reiterated my desire to transfer back to Dr. Lee. She stated that I would need to come in to submit a written request, then abruptly ended the call. I called back to check on the status of my original appointment, but was told it was no longer available, so I scheduled a later appointment instead. I believe Ms. Alford should have contacted me before canceling the appointment and provided accurate information about the transfer process. I plan to contact the Patient Advocate in the morning to address this matter formally.
