Dr. Mabel Onyinyechuk Bongmba, MD

I was born and raised in the Los Angeles, California, area. I attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, and completed my residency at San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, where I served as chief resident. I moved to the Seattle area soon after. Becoming a physician has been a dream of mine since kindergarten; I have always wanted to help people. I discovered psychiatry in medical school, and my life has not been the same since. As a resident, I was a recipient of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Minority Fellowship from the American Psychiatric Association, and during my fellowship year, I gave a lecture on spirituality and religion in psychiatry in Beijing, China. I have served as a local chief at my clinic and supported outreach programs for low-income and under-represented students interested in medicine.
