Dr. Maciej Poltorak, MD

I do not understand how someone would actually want to see this neurologist. First of all, he does not listen to what you have to say and will interrupt you as you are explaining your symptoms. Then, he jumps to conclusions and diagnoses you with something you most likely do not have. I have been diagnosed with a neurological condition since I was in my early teens. This man insists I did not have this condition, ran a bunch of unnecessary tests, just to discover and re-diagnose me with the same condition. (I had to leave my old neurologist for change in insurance). But, if he just listened to me, probably be a lot further along in my treatment. (I Waste of time, money and energy. He is also super creepy. He inappropriately touches his patients when he is talking to them. Speaking from experience. Lastly, he is ALWAYS late. I am not talking about like an half an hour or hour. I mean hours. 2-3 hours late. Not sure how anyone would give this Dr. anything above 2 starts.… DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! FIND SOMEONE ELSE! I have seen neurologist my entire life, and he is by far the worst I have ever experienced. Stay away.

Husband in horrible back pain. Had the test Dr. P wanted done. Husband left messages over several days to get another appointment as pain got worse - never heard back from this 'Doctor'. NEVER going back.

My elderly (92 yr old) Mother was referred to Dr. Poltorak by her Primary Care Physician after a fall. The first visit was ok. After a cursory exam and taking her medical history where he mostly talked to me, he put her on Namenda without any diagnostics which I thought was odd as she showed no symptoms of Alzheimers or dementia. My Mom has the habit of asking her Doctors at the end of her appointment if she's going to "make it". He responded "no we're all going to die, some people sooner than others". The second visit was for a memory/ comprehension test taken on a touch screen computer. I was allowed to stay in the room with her but was not allowed to help or say anything. The volume on the computer was not loud enough (she is a little hard of hearing) so not hearing the directions clearly hindered her greatly. Also the test was pretty fast paced for someone who has never worked on a computer. I wanted to help her sooooo bad! Well, a couple of weeks later (as long as it took… for her to finish the Namenda) we returned for the test results. Without much finesse, he told us that she failed the test miserably (this is a woman who still does crossword puzzles daily and watches Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy daily - solving the puzzles and answering the questions with as much accuracy as she ever had) so I told him i knew she had failed, that she had a hard time hearing the directions and the tests were much too fast paced for soneone her age who has no computer experience. I asked if it would be possible for her to retake the test with a human administering it. At this point he was escorting us to the reception area to make the next appointment and continuing to talk about her test results wjile writing another Rx for Namenda and that no it wasn't possible for her to retake it and they don't give the test manually. He told the receptionist when he wanted my mom back and walked away. I told the receptionist that we wouldn't be back. He seems like a nice enough man but . . .

Water over an hour. He asked questions , didn't let me answer completely. Said he thinks I have ms, went to do mri (brain). Called to get results for a month no call back. Had my pcp call she got results the next day. No signs of Ms & the neds he gave me on my first visit had me sleep & he wanted me to take it 3 times a day. I did not especially after the first oil. It was Gabentin.

This was by far the worst doctor's visit I've had. He got great reviews from patients with other conditions, so I'm thinking he just must not be the best doctor for migraines. Not only did he fail to listen to any of my medical history, he didn't ask any appropriate questions related to my migraines (no questions about triggers, symptoms, auras, etc). Even after asking me if I had any questions, he interrupted me repeatedly and I never did get a single question out. He insisted on prescribing a medication that I've had serious side effects to in the past. He refused to listen to any of the side effects and refused to consider any other option, despite the fact that there are countless medications I haven't tried yet. He jumped to assumptions quickly without taking the time to actually listen, and my husband agrees that he was definitely touching and treating me like a "little girl." This visit was a frustrating waste of my time. If you have migraines I'd recommend you keep looking.

My only complaint about Dr. Poltorak is the tardiness of the appointments. He is always late. But, when you meet with him, he makes time for you, answers questions and explains things very well. He diagnosed my MS very quickly and I am very grateful to have him as a part of my medical team. He is a 5 star in my book, even though he will be late, because I trust him and he has been extremely helpful. For me, the wait is no problem at all.

Appointment was for 1115, saw MD at 2.00 pm; no communication form the office staff that my appointment was going to be late until I asked. No apaolgy for extreme tardiness form MD> Complete waste of my day.

Dr. Poltorak is the best doctor I've ever had. He diagnosed my M.S. very quickly and we started an agressive treatment plan right away. Due to his diligence and expertise, I escaped the fate of being a quadraplegic. Dr. Poltorak always took the necessary time to answer all my questions and allay any fears I may have had. He has an exellent bedside manner and is very caring and compassionate. I wish all doctors could learn from him.

Being a nurse I am very particular about doctors. Dr Poltorak in my opinion is excellent!! He is an excellent diagnostician and is VERY thorough. You do have to wait for some time occasionally for your appointment but that is due to Dr. Poltorak taking as much time with each of his patients that is necessary. Once you understand that then you have no problem waiting and do plan your day to accommodate the wait. Dr. Poltorak is being seen by not only me but also my husband. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM WITHOUT ANY HESITATION!
