I've always felt called to work with children and their families. Being a nurse practitioner in pediatrics is a dream job for someone who considers herself a kid at heart. It's incredibly rewarding to be part of a child's growth and development and to provide care that can have a lifelong impact. Kids are resilient, honest and full of potential, and helping them through both illness and wellness is a privilege. As a nurse practitioner, I am passionate about educating and empowering parents while promoting wellness and preventive care. I have a longtime, personal connection to Novant Health Robinhood Pediatrics: I was a patient here myself when I was growing up. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I was a registered nurse in the pediatric ICU and pediatric ER. Caring for pediatric patients during their most vulnerable times has made me a better nurse practitioner because it grounded me in the fundamentals of patient care. At the bedside, you learn how to truly listen, advocate and …notice subtle changes that can lead to important discoveries and diagnoses. My time as a pediatric nurse taught me to respect teamwork and collaboration, and it showed me the importance of every role in the healthcare setting. My experience as an RN taught me to trust my clinical instincts, value the insights of others and build a strong rapport with patients and their families. My background in nursing has given me a foundation of empathy, humility and clinical vigilance that I carry into every patient interaction. I am married with two wonderful children. My hobbies include spending time with friends and family, watching sports and relaxing at the beach.
