We went for a medicine check, which the front desk clerk said would be a "no charge," and yet we were charged $243 by Madeline Lewis, the Behavioral Health nurse. We had to pay $130 of that $243. Madeline coded the appointment as a 30 minute appointment. She literally was in the room for less than three minutes. "Is the medicine working well for you?" "Yes." "Okay, good." Of course, that is not verbatim, but you get the point. THIS is what is wrong with medical treatment in America!!! They OVERCHARGE insurance to BENEFIT THEMSELVES!!! We disputed the charges with the insurance. Actually, the insurance sent it back to be recoded because they agreed that $243 for a three-minute medicine check was ridiculous. However, Madeline said the 30 minutes was time she spent looking into the chart and doing paperwork- not actually time she spent in the room. So, we paid the bill. We do not agree with it, but we paid it. In today's society, we do not expect an appointment to be free, but… $243??? For a medicine check??? It makes you wonder if they care about people or money.
