When I was growing up, watching my family members treat patients at their clinic in India inspired me to study medicine. The way they treated patients - with such kindness and respect - formed an impression on me as a child and got me interested in becoming a doctor. As an internist, I help patients deal with all types of conditions. Some of these might include heart disease, diabetes, cholesterol or mental health issues. As a researcher, I believe in evidence-based medicine. I want to give you the information you need to make the best decisions for yourself. I'm not afraid to go beyond the boundaries of traditional Western medicine. I'm a minimalist when prescribing medicines and doing tests. I believe that inside each of us, there is a set of experiences and values that help contribute to our well being. Drugs and operations don't solve every medical issue.
