Dr. Mahmud Ahmed Sheikh, MD

Dr. Sheikh discharged me after one night in the hospital. I had come in with chest pains, right side pain, nausea, and a very high blood pressure. He gave me a heavy dose of Nitroglycerin to bring down my bp. We asked what could have caused by bp to spike. He was only concerned with getting it normal and then discharge. He sent me home with the same bp medication I had been on for years, which had always managed it well. I went home and slept all night, then the next day I started to have the same symptoms as the day before. Only this time my bp was spiking at an alarming rate. By the time I arrived at the ER, my bp was 255/125. Dr. Seikh walked into my ER room and said “Your bp is very high! It scared me”! Again I told him that my right side hurt and was now spreading pain to my back. More bp medication to control the symptom with no thought to the cause. They did an ultrasound on my side, and he reported to me that they found “a small stone on my gall bladder blocking it. I asked… if that was the root of my bp problem. He said “No, they are two separate events, coincidental, no relationship”. That night in my room I vomited all night. The RN checked my bp every half hour. By his morning check the look on his face gave me thoughts that I might not make it, bp now was 51/41. Later that morning Dr. Sheikh came in my room and announced his plan to discharge me, again. I reminded him that with no answers, I was frightened that the same thing could probably happen again. His answer was that he would add another bp medication, one was not enough. My daughter texted me that he said it was “raised because I forgot to take my medications”. Seriously untrue. A team of specialists later came in my room, saying I was going home that day. I pleaded with them expressing my situation and fear. They quickly changed the plan to my staying and more tests and treatment. I then googled on my phone: gall bladder and hypertension. When I became angry. There was a clear relationship to problems with gallbladders causing blood pressure to rise in bp. Now a surgeon was telling me that my gallstone was the size of a golf ball. That’s not what Dr. Sheikh said. I was furious and now I clearly let him know my feelings. I did not trust him, that I could find more answers on Google than from him, that he wanted to send me home TWICE with no answers, and he was okay to just let me die. In my opinion, he is ignorant and has no idea how to diagnose, nor does he care if his patients die. I’ve never had a more incompetent nor uncaring doctor. He is dangerous. Beware.
