Dr. Mahpara Shahzad A Syed, MD

I will not return to this condescending woman, I suppose a women with lab results of Lupus is lying. She came in on her high horse explaining something to me as if I haven’t dealt with it for 35 years. Perhaps she thought I just wanted the hydroxychloroquine or that it was all in my head…very argumentative and combative. ”oh you have brain fog and you didn’t see a neurologist.” Twice she asked. No because it only happens when I have a lupus flare. “Oh you came to the doctor without your lab work” yes, because it’s in your electronic filing system. How about read my labs and my history before popping in the exam room 15-20 minutes late?!?! Without introducing yourself or empathizing with me. Not to mention, she decided what diagnoses to put in the computer although the lab work said something totally different. She perhaps need time off to contemplate why she became a doctor. Was it for power and control or was it to actual help others and see them get better. The way she is now, I… would not get me better and I therefore, will find another doctor.

As an RN of 43 years and the first time seeing a Rheumatologist I was very impressed with Dr Syed's professionalism, ability to get right to the heart of your concerns all while performing and in depth, hands on evaluation. Dr has a very good teaching style that is easy to follow and explains her train of thought transparently while sharing with you. I felt the tests ordered were appropriate and exactly what I was looking for and treatment plan was spot on.

Dr Syed was so thorough explaining my condition and went above and beyond to explain all the results from the tests and the diagnosis and her plan of action for treatment. Dr Syed was a real pleasure to talk to and asked several times if I understood everything that she was explaining.

If I could I would give Dr. Syed a 0 the way this office and Dr treated my mother I was disgusted all she cares more about is money then treating her patients. Her patients are only a number , and don't get me started about her front desk horrible people! I can't believe Beaumont would hire a Dr. So unprofessional and cold ,a Dr that doesn't act like a Dr. I'm just disgusted never in my life did I ever see a Dr like this . Shame on you Dr Syed shame on you.

My first and follow up visit with Dr. Syed was excellent. I found her to be very thorough and really took her time explaining all the test results and spoke in terms I could easily understand. The office staff was very pleasant, personable and efficient! Would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Syed and her practice to anyone!

To start, the office is difficult to find and it caused me to be late for my initial appointment, this will matter in a minute. I found the doctor to be short tempered and unwilling to answer even basic questions without an attitude. When I tried to ask questions she snapped "Well maybe you shouldn't have been late for your appointment!" I called the office and told them I was having trouble finding it and they said no problem. We're talking 15 minutes not hours. Being diagnosed with RA is a pretty scary thing. You want a Doctor that will take the time to answer questions, listen to your symptoms and explain treatment options. You won't find that here. This one sent me home in tears.

I was overwhelmed by how nice Dr. Sayed and her staff were. I was so anxious about my husbands positive lab work. Not only was she knowledgeable and thorough, she called me back (HERSELF) as soon as she had all the test results she ordered. She didn't keep me worring through the weekend. I will gladly recommend her to everyone I know. Beaumont should be grateful to have such a wonderful doctor on staff!

Explained the procedures to diagnose my problems. Tests ordered quickly and a treatment plan was began at my 2nd meeting. The doctor was very thorough is explaining my problems and options. I have experienced some relief and am going to follow up with Dr. Syed to continue her treatment plan and keep moving to a less painful existence. Just a side note, I had seen a rheumatologist 10 years who was a bit arrogant and did not help my condition. I am very happy with Dr. Syed's professionalism, knowledge and manner of giving me a treatment plan, taking the time to answer my questions and share her knowledge, even if I ask the same questions a number of times.

I have been working with Dr. Syed for 2 years and I have found her care to be exceptional! She gives me the time I need to discuss any concerns that I have, and really listens when I am talking with her. She goes over the lab results at each visit, and makes certain that I understand the treatment plan. I think she is fantastic, and I have referred several friends to her practice. Her office staff is always helpful. I cannot imagine working with another rheumatologist.

Dr Syed is fantastic! She does a great job managing my very rare disease. I am so grateful to have found her!
