Dr. Maija Brooke Sanna, MD

Dr. Sanna treated my Mom who had numerous issues. Dr. Sanna never rushed us and she listened to all of my concerns. She was professional and thoughtful. She wasn't afraid to change some of the medications or suggest alternatives. She even prescribed home PT. She called me at home to discuss my Mom's worsening condition. I really appreciated her support.

I had a bad experience with this doctor. I suggest you avoid her.

Zero bedside manner. Terrible decision making regarding care. Should not be allowed to treat seniors. Very bad experience with this uncaring physician.

Dr. Sanna took the place of my previous wonderful geriatrician, Dr. Sonja Rosen. I don't need a lot of hand-holding, but I found that Dr. Sanna spent the entire visit looking at her computer, not at me, and I had the feeling she couldn't wait until I left her ofice.

Dr Sanna is in many ways what every patient desires: A very caring and ultra professional physician who is careful to diagnose the problem and not rush to do endless scans, MRI, Cat scan etc. She orders when necessary a blood test, compares to prior ones, notes if a variation and advises how we may correct that Recently I had a terrible episode with Food Poisoning which required 6 IVs and after recovery, took another blood test which Dr Sanna felt showed a minor problem and told me we will retest that in 6 weeks. Nothing way out of the guidelines, and some a possible result of IV's She is very through and replies promptly to any email or phone call. she is terrific.

Dr Sanna, I'm sure, is a very competent and knowledgeable Dr, but she seems to dislike her job. She doesn't really engage you or include you in her thought processes and seems to stick to asking her questions in a monotonous tone. There is not much room for you to engage her in conversation either as you end up feeling like you are wasting her time. Which I guess is true since all we want is a diagnosis and treatment. Itd be nice to be treated like a person though, and not just a case. Each to their own though, I guess.

I'm not one to ever write negative reviews, but felt compelled to share my poor experience with Dr. Sanna. I'm a new patient to this medical group, and came in to see Dr. Sanna about some back pain and to refill a prescription (that I've been taking for 1 1/2 years). When she came into see me (after 10+ minutes of waiting in the examination room), she couldn't have seem less thrilled to see me. Her demeanor was very cold, and when discussing my back pain, referred me out to a physical therapist (my friend who is a doctor said I would most likely be given an MRI considering the severity of the injury and pain). She also said that she "doesn't manage" my medication, and referred me out to a psychiatrist in order to get my refill. I've never been asked to do that before, because what I need medicine for is a medical issue, not a mental one. I couldn't have been more taken aback--not only did I feel demeaned by her lack of consideration and care (and being treated like a borderline… hypochondriac), but it felt great to know I missed an hour and a half of work to see a doctor who now wants me to see two different doctors...
