I came to the ER with acute, procedure-related pain immediately after a discogram. When Dr. Shahid entered the room, he did not perform a physical exam or fully assess my symptoms before making assumptions about my condition. He offered a CT scan. I did not refuse it — I simply asked why it was needed, what he was looking for, and whether it was appropriate given the type of post-procedure pain I was having. Instead of explaining his reasoning, he became defensive and documented the scan as “refused,” which is not accurate. Throughout the interaction, he insisted my situation was “chronic pain,” even though the pain was clearly acute, expected, and directly related to the procedure I had just undergone. This was not only incorrect but dismissive. When my mother asked for his name — a completely normal patient right — Dr. Shahid escalated the situation and claimed it was a “threat,” stating he needed to “file a report.” No one raised their voice or behaved aggressively. The… escalation felt unnecessary and unprofessional. He later charted that I “eloped,” despite the fact that I left openly and calmly only after he refused to provide appropriate care and after I expressed that I no longer felt safe or heard. The documentation from this visit contains multiple inaccuracies that do not match what actually happened, which is extremely concerning for any patient, especially someone relying on correct medical records after a painful procedure. This review isn’t written out of emotion — it’s written because accuracy, professionalism, and communication matter, and my experience with Dr. Shahid fell far below those standards.
