Dr. Malissia Denise Zapata, MD

Every time I went I had to stand basically in the center of the room because there was nowhere to seat and every inch of wall space was taken up by someone else having to stand. They were very rude and rushed me in and out as quickly as they could. At the first sono there was nothing but an empty sac so the lady cut my appointment tent off right there and said she needs me back in 2 weeks for a more thorough sono then basically pushed me out the door. So I go back in 2 weeks and they tell me my baby has a low heart rate but wont let me listen to it or see it and didnt do anything about the low heart rate and pushed me out the door as they did before. I was very unimpressed so I switched to a different doctor in Rowlett. I went to the new doctor and got a sonogram and she immediately tells me my baby has no heartbeat and that I am experiencing a miscarriage. I really feel as if Zapata's office should have done something and could have maybe saved my baby but she chose to do nothing and… continue to collect checks from me! Thankfully I was able to find a better doctor though. I will not go back to Zapata's office or recommend them to anyone ever! I highly suggest they choose nicer staff, add more seating, and take the time to interact with their patients and pay attention to their concerns.

I made an appointment for a consultation since I was having problems conceiving. I was told over the phone that my insurance doesn’t cover infertility visits and that it would cost me $200.00. I went ahead with the visit. When I got there I was charged upfront and taken back by the nurse practitioner. The doctor never even bothered to come in and introduce herself to me let alone talk to me about my options. Two weeks later I see a claim from them on my insurance for a $175.00 visit and after my coverage, I was responsible for $166.17 of that visit. Not the $200 I was charged. Obviously a clinic that only cares about money.

Dr. Zapata is currently treating my disabled child with a great deal of compassion and professionalism. As surprising as this sounds, many doctors are unwilling to deal with my daughter because of her mental handicap and severe anxiety. Dr. Zapata has been sensitive, diligent and communicative with us. I am so grateful we found her.

I am so glad that I did not listen to all of the negative reviews on here! Some people are never happy and complain about everything. I have been very pleased with Dr. Zapata and her entire staff. As a first time mom I was very nervous. Dr. Zapata has an awesome bedside manner and really helped me to relax. I trusted her judgment when she decided to take my daughter via c-section and thought she acted very professional. I will definitely use Dr. Zapata again and will recommend her to anyone!

I had a problem with my baby that was found when I was pregnant but she wouldn't refer me out. I had to find an specialist on my own to get referred out so I could be closer to my baby after my baby was transferred to Childrens Hospital. She was very unprofessional when she yelled at me. I will never refer her to anyone.

Would not recommend to anyone. Very inappropriate in handling personal business. Will run test not approved by patient, and will over charge. The office staff is very unfriendly and shares your personal business with everyone in the waiting room. I have had a horrible experience and I know others that would agree!! To make matters worse I was NEVER able to se the Docter just her assistant.

Dr. Zapata didn't transfer me out when she knew there was something wrong with the baby.
