Dr. Malrie Dorothea Brown, MD

I am the youngest member of my family. As a small child, I was influenced to become a physician by watching a hospital-based soap opera in the 1960s. Helping others was an important part of my upbringing and I felt I could do so as a physician. I must admit that I had some doubts in the beginning because no one on that show looked like me. At the time, there was not much cultural diversity in the depictions of physicians on televisionthere were no women or African-American physicians. My mother was influential in helping me pursue my dream by making sure I knew that if I could dream it, I could achieve it. I have been a physician for 23 years. I completed my family medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Fontana Hospital in 1990. Upon graduation, I began my practice at a new Kaiser Permanente clinic in Rancho Cucamonga, the Laurel Street Medical Offices. Due to the rapidly expanding community, we quickly outgrew our five-physician office and built a brand new 30-physician facility a …block away.
