Dr. Mamata Jitendra Bharucha, MD

Dr Bharucha is not a friendly OBGYN. I did not feel comfortable with her and every time I’ve gone to her I either felt rushed or judged. I’ve seen how she has treated some of her other patients and the way I was being treated was completely different. Front desk staff in Trumbull location is horrible. UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE.

She was very calm and thorough on examining me. She didn't rush and was very gentle. I recommend her!!!

The last time I saw a Gynecologist was about 15 yrs. ago. Dr. Bharucha was very thorough and made me feel comfortable.

I went to Dr. Bharucha complaining of very painful PMS and menstruation symptoms that lasted for a minimum of 3/4 weeks out of every month. She prescribed a certain birth control and told me I just had painful menses, nothing more, and that was that. I have a medical history of depression, which I informed her of, and she prescribed me a birth control that caused a major depressive episode, in addition to not solving any of my symptoms I initially went to her about (and, in some cases, exacerbating them). I gained 20 lbs in three months and one of my breasts grew 2 cup sizes. After the three month trial period, I returned for my birth control consultation to express my concerns, and she said my breasts were meant to be asymmetrical, the weight gain was normal, and flat out refused to take me off the birth control when I asked to be switched, telling me I was basically overreacting when I told her about my physical and mental issues since going on the pill. At another point in the… appointment, I also told her I did not want the Gardasil vaccine at that time, and she literally ignored me, turned around, and tried to administer the vaccine anyway. I protested that I didn’t want it at the time and she tried to argue with me, since she’d already prepared the shot, but eventually backed down as I continued to tell her to stop trying to give me the shot. I left to see another OBGYN when my physical and mental health continued to be affected by the pill and she still refused to do anything. It turns out that the contraception she prescribed me was not recommended for people with a known history of depression, and I had multiple (and, based on my new OBGYN’s reaction to my list of issues, very obvious) signs of multiple reproductive and uterine health issues. If you want a gynecologist who listens to you, and, quite frankly, knows what they’re doing, I would go elsewhere.

She's very quick to respond to non emergency calls. Although a bladder infection feels urgent. Thank goodness, Dr Bharucha returned my phone call so quickly, and called in the prescription immediately ! I felt relief within hours! Thank You Dr. Bharucha ! Sincerely, Mary Elson
