Absolutely HORRIBLE doctor!! I was rushed the entire time and he would get irritated any time I asked a question! Worst of all was that he made me feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable during the exam! I left mortified as it was the worst experience I have ever had!

He gave me maybe four minutes of his time before leaving without asking if I had any questions. Didn't really listen to what I had to say about MY experience with MY pain. Diagnosed me in about two minutes and then refused think about any other possible hypothesis or listen to what my primary care doc had said. Absolute waste of my time and money. Avoid him.

Still have not recovered from the trauma of the treatment from this surgeon. Came highly recommended but should have been concerned by the reason behind it which was that he is “the only doctor who is willing to deal with these surgeries”. Prior to procedures, office visits were strange with the talkative surgeon telling me (a 30 something mom) about inappropriate patient stories. Had hemorrhoid banding done unsuccessfully twice and gave up. Tremendously painful but surgeon was dismissive of pain and unable to correct the condition. I was prescribed powerful opioids which I didn’t take due to fear of consequences. Entire experience was worst I have ever had. Was too afraid to ever go back. And still suffering a decade later due to the experience. Do NOT recommend!!!!! Please beware. (I rarely write reviews for anything...)

Had hernia surgery consultation/pre-op meeting today. First time meeting Dr. Saund. He was very good communicating in an engaging and respectful manner, with patience, with an elderly female patient. He described the hernia and repair options so we understood. He made the elderly patient feel comfortable with undertaking the surgery. I highly recommend. If our opinion changes post-surgery I will update; I doubt I will need to.

Horrible surgeon

Dr. Saund was a very charismatic, chatty, friendly person. My partner was uncomfortable and nervous going into their first surgery (this is colorectal surgery, after all; it's embarrassing as well as physically uncomfortable), and Dr. Saund was very comforting and confident. We liked him immediately, and he was very friendly and helpful during initial consultations and the day of the surgery... After that, things went downhill. The week after the surgery, my partner was in *significant* pain. Dr. Saund was hesitant to prescribe more pain meds (understandable, given the opioid epidemic), but then when he was told that the pain was unmanageable, he prescribed a HUGE amount. Odd, and probably not a great practice. After a few weeks of successful healing, my partner's condition took an abrupt turn for the worse and they were in excruciating pain. When Dr. Saund examined the surgical wound, he declared that my partner "couldn't" be in pain because it was healing. Okay, except they… clearly WERE in pain, and there was something clearly wrong. It took a few more calls (and an ER visit) for Dr. Saund to recognize that perhaps this was an ongoing issue. The last time we saw him, he begrudgingly admitted it might need another surgery and reluctantly prescribed pain meds, but only after saying that if my partner became addicted, it was their fault. We got another surgeon. So, yes, Dr. Saund was very friendly and charismatic, and relatively responsive via phone and for appointments... but he was ultimately arrogant, dismissive, and hurtful in his approach to post-operative care and pain management.

Dr, Saund is one of the mos efficient and personable surgeons I have encountered. He was recommended to us by our primary care Dr. and he could not have been more correct. I have had faith in the Harvard Vanguard association for more than 30 years. and they have a winner with this man. He is personable, accurate and has a great rapport with his patients. He did colon surgery for my wife and gave her more years to live, for which I will be forever grateful. He explained everything and was so nice. He is always available to you which is rare for very good surgeons. I should know as I have had several serious surgeries by some great ones. If you have need of a great surgeon and a truly nice person you would be remiss not to call him. He is destined for many accolades.
