Dr. Mani Lama, MD

If I could give her a zero star, I would. This woman shouldn't be in the medical field where she is physically taking care of people. She should be behind a computer. She has a horrible bedside behavior. She doesn't know how to speak to people. I'm glad I had a family member on the call when she came to see me for the first time. My family member afterwards stated that she was very aggressive. I thought maybe I was reading too much into it but I wasn't because she wanted me to have a procedure done. Due to not doing the procedure, she stated she would change my room. Which I was fine with. The next morning, I was then taken off my IV for a medication that I needed to be on 24/hr including when taking a shower all because of a shift change and I had to keep informing them about my IV. I was crying regarding this because I started to develop knee pain which moved to my thigh after 2 hours of being back on my medication. When she came to see me she really didn't have any concerns about me… being off my IV and my leg pain. I had to stand firm on getting a doppler for my leg. Considering, I was here for blood clots and that is a symptom. She let me know she was prescribing me a medication which was different from what I was receiving now. So, I asked a question about it and she answered it. I was going to ask another question and she told me to Google it. I made a face like, Are you for real? Then she stated, "I tell all my patients to Google any thing they need to know." I didn't say nothing because I was done with her lack of professional and medical behavior. I was thinking do Google know what I'm medically going through? Then once I was discharged, I was informed that I would be receiving a call from a specialist office. I waited a couple of days since it was a holiday. The specialist info wasn't on the discharged papers which I thought was odd but figured as long as my info was passed along, ok. After 3 days of waiting, I didn't receive a call. I called back the number to the floor I was discharged from, and was told they will reach out to Dr. Lama if she was in today. They called back and informed me that Dr. Lama stated, "I can just call any of the hematologist that is with Novant. That there is a referral in my chart." So, if I wasn't proactive about my care, I would have been waiting for this invisible doctor's office to give me a call to setup my appts that is extremely important for my care for the next 9 months. If you're in the hospital at Novant in Huntersville and you have Dr. Lama, I would highly recommend you have her removed from your case.
