Dr. Manish Prahlad Patel, DO

Office does not take time to verify insurance coverage before ordering very expensive tests. Do not warn you up front of hundreds of dollars of costs. Then they different fragments of the Baylor system bills outrages amounts that you have no knowledge of. A physical that was supposed to be covered 100% now cost almost $800.00. They completely did not care about the patient when every responsible reputable office takes the time to verify insurance coverages up front. Then they didn't have the nerve to face us so sent the bill to collections without even contacting us or sending us a bill. Will never go to this office or any Baylor affiliate again

I have to say I have mixed opinions about Dr. Patel. The first time I saw him, he was nice and seemed to know his stuff, however I had an appointment today and was turned away. Let me explain. I was running late, so I called while I was on my way to the office. It was 5 minutes before my appointment. I was on hold for 15 minutes, by which time I had arrived at the office. Now I am a father of 6 month old triplets and a 2 year old, so getting them settled is a job in an of itself. The receptionist told me she was going to call Dr. Patel to see if he can even see me. I explained my situation and the fact that I called while in route. That way if they could not see me, I wasn't wasting my time driving out there. I live 10 minutes away. After filling out some paperwork and waiting 10 additional minutes, I was told I would need to reschedule since he was too busy. I asked what was the policy for late visit for Dr. Patel, I was told it depends on how he feels. What the Heck? I understand he… is busy, but I called before hand as was just on hold. In the lobby area, there was only 1 patient there for the 30 minutes I was there. I really can't be seen because he is too busy and I am 8 minutes late? That just rubs me the wrong way. I understand I was late, but I attempted to call to see if I could be seen and I explained why I was late. Most places at least have a policy about late visits which I can respect

My husband went to Dr Patel today for first time, we were referred by a friend, clinic is close to our house so we gave it a shot, my husband had nothing but good things to say, Front office treated him very nice, everyone very accomidating. Dr Patel was very through in exam, listened carefully, asked lots of questions and ordered a good amount of labs to be able to treat. We were very pleased.

It is nice to see a doctor that is understanding when you bring small kids in. You can tell he is a dad and makes my kids feel at ease when they have to go in for a visit. It is also nice knowing we have a doctor that sees our whole family.

Support staff must be way to busy to fax prescriptions as you are advised they will do or they have been requested to do. I have had issues with getting them to fax information requested for mail order scripts causing me to run out of medication. I even had a problem with them faxing information to the pharmacy which they told me they were going to do right before I left their office!! Waste of time and gas on my part and I didn't even get an apology for their inconvenience to me, instead I was treated like I was a burden! I am VERY disappointed and hope to see impfovement in this area as Dr Patel is one of my favortie doctors!

one of the last few docs who enjoys what he does, never in a rush, one should NEVER pick a doctor or lawyer just based on internet reviews, these are the only 2 individuals besides your family that are on your side, ask friends and family first! With all these healthcare changes coming soon you better find a good doctor you are comfortable with fast before you're stuck with going to patient factories that will give you penicillin for everything! (fyi-a lot of people who really like a doctor don't leave any type of rating or comment because they are hard to find)

After seeing this doctor for several years, he sent me a letter saying it was necessary to withdraw me from future treatment. I was given no reason, I have paid every bill. So if you are really have on going issues I would say he does not care to deal with you.
