Dr. Manuel Carro, MD

Dr. Carro was very thorough and explained my test results in great detail. He recommended a conservative approach and not to rush into surgery. I was very pleased with my visit!

With scoliosis and previous spine surgeries, his opinion was I was having no issues related to my back and was perfectly fine, even though I am having symptoms of failed fusion again. He completely brushed me off. Why be a physician if you aren't going to even try to help people? If I could give zero stars, I would. He doesn't deserve one.

Talks down to women, provides no options, tells you what he will do, even if that isn't appropriate. Seems like he'd rather get as much insurance procedures scheduled, not offer options to patients. I have never been treated like that in any Dr's office and would never go back to him. I know better care exists, and this wasn't what I've seen in any office throughout the US. That is not conducive to wellness when you're treated like that. My experience was similar to another post here, and I'd bet it was another woman's experience as well.

I had an appointment today, he was very prompt. Dr Carlo is not “chatty”, but very competent. He took time to explain my situation and answer my questions Jolly was a “joy”. This is a very organized place

I made an appt today to see Dr Carro. I saw him in 2015 and found him to be a Dr who just brushed me off within minutes to the Semmes Murphy PT group. I felt like he didn't care one thing about the pain that I was experiencing. I thought I'd try again three years later, but after reading these reviews, I figure I'd be wasting my dollars and time revisiting with him. Thanks for the reviews.....the input has reminded me of the disappointing visit and care-less care I received from Dr Carro several years back. What was I thinking?

Please do not schedule an appointment with Dr. Manuel Carro at Semmes- Murphy Clinic. He lacks care and concern for patients. I have a herniated disc in my lower back which causes severe pain in my leg. The pain is so severe until I went to the emergency room, who in turn referred me to Semmes-Murphy. My first visit with Dr. Carro was all of 10 minutes. He quickly gave me an assessment and was looking at me as if I was lying about the pain I was having. He prescribed tramadol and some steroids during the visit after I told him the meds that the ER prescribed worked really well. The following week, I had a MRI which showed that I had a disc pressing against my nerve. After he viewed the MRI, he patted me on the shoulder like “you really have a back injury.” After the MRI, he advised that I can have a nerve block or surgery but failed to explain or give further details about those options. I was having problems with the meds I was taking and called back to ask if he could prescribe… something else. However, his very rude nurse, Holly, advised that Dr. Carro only prescribes tramadol. I told the nurse that I could not take the tramadol because of the adverse side effects and that I’m allergic to it. She in turns tell me my only options were to have a nerve block or surgery. Keep in mind no one ever explained the nerve block procedure. My nerve block was scheduled with another doctor, Dr. Polk. This was the only time the nerve block procedure was explained in detail. The day of the nerve block, Dr. Polk came in and advised that my condition was pretty severe. I told them that I was allergic to tramadol and they placed a red armband on my wrist advising this. I had the procedure done and I was prescribed a pain medication other than tramadol, which helped the pain I was having. A few days after the block, I began having severe pain in my leg again. I contacted Dr. Polk’s nurse who explained that was normal and it takes 14 days for the block to take effect. However, two weeks later, the pain is 10xs worse. I contacted Dr. Polk’s nurse to ask for something for pain and she advised that I have to contact Dr. Carro because he was my treatment doctor. I contacted Dr. Carro’s nurse Holly to ask for something for pain and she very rudely advised that she could call in a prescription for tramadol. I told her that I was allergic to tramadol and she very rudely stated that I could schedule another block or schedule to have an appointment with a surgeon. I do not want to have another block because the first one didn’t work. I have come to the reality that I need to have surgery but they refused to prescribe me something other than tramadol to ease my pain until I can get scheduled with a surgeon. They know that I can’t take tramadol. I told them what helps with the pain but they refused to prescribe anything that will help. While speaking with nurse Holly, she very rudely told me that I could go somewhere else and that Dr. Carro can prescribe what he wants to patients. This made me feel as if I was being stereo-typed. I was already feeling as if he stereo-typed me during my very first visit. He assumed I wasn’t in as much pain as I was claiming. After going back and forth with the nurse, I scheduled an appointment so I could talk with Dr. Carro directly. During the appointment, Dr. Carro spoke with me all of three minutes to tell me he couldn’t give me any medicine for pain and that there was nothing else he could do. He even stated that I could get my medical records and go elsewhere. I wouldn’t recommend Dr. Carro to anyone if he was the last doctor on earth! He is insensitive and does not care about the well-being of his patients. He only gives do or die treatment options and nothing in between. Either have a nerve block or surgery, which is fine but what does a patient do until those options are scheduled, just remain in pain? He never gave me anything else for pain throughout the entire process and he keeps suggesting that I can take tramadol. Why would you tell a patient you’ll prescribe tramadol if they are allergic to it? This is by far the worst doctor I have ever encountered. He does not care about treating patients. His lack of concern and compassion is a 0. Please, please avoid this doctor at all costs!!!

My husbands first visit to see Dr. Carro was a good experience. He listened to his complaint . Never seemed to be in a hurry. Would highly recommend Dr. Carro and his staff. Very nice and easy to talk too. Also , Holly and Joy were nice and helpful.

Dr. Carro treated me as well as my wife. We found him to be thorough and caring. He always listened to what we had to say about our symptoms and acted accordingly. The affects of his treatment were sometime immediate or within hours. He is high on my list and have recommended him to everyone who needs a good, caring and competent specialist. I have been under his care for several years and will continue to do so as long as he practices medicine. Thank you.

Dr. Carro picked the worst career choice possible. He exhibits absolutely no compassion, and seemed inconvenienced by my questions. It was a burden for him to even spend five minutes explaining my condition.
