To say we had the best of the best for my sister's high risk surgery is an understatement. Dr. Fontes was a life saver... literally. From the moment he walked into the room to meet my sister all the way up to the recovery room, he showed attentiveness, so much compassion, & caring to my sister and my family. He was patient and kind and answered all of our questions with wisdom and accuracy. My family prayed for angels to assist with this surgery, Dr. Fontes was one of those angels. I was in Cornell hospital for heart surgery, i am a relative young man (46), my biggest fear was not so much of the heart surgery but was of the anesthesia as years ago i had a few very bad experiences with anesthesia. Dr Fontes went way above what is required of a doctor in helping me get through the surgery and for that matter even getting me to do the surgery. I have never seen such a caring doctor in all my life. After the surgery he continued to comfort me and attend to me even though his job was over. I will never forget him as long as i live.
