Manuel Alejandro Martinez-Rivera Jr. JR., MD

Manuel Martinez Rivera Jr., MD, is a board-certified general surgeon. He performs many types of surgical procedures, including abdominal wall defect repair, gallbladder removal, bowel surgeries, biliary tree surgeries and common laparoscopic procedures. He also surgically treats common soft tissue, skin and breast conditions through open and robotic procedures.Dr. Martinez earned his medical degree from Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He followed that with a residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.His focus: providing excellent care to his patients. "I think, like many other providers, we have an innate drive to help others be as healthy as possible and impact the communities we serve," says Dr. Martinez.Finding out a patient is doing better than when they first came in makes Dr. Martinez proud. During my time here, I've found a Spanish-speaking community to serve for the years ahead."He's a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons (local and national chapters), the Trauma Association of Canada, the Association for Academic Surgery and the Southeastern Surgical Congress.Dr. Martinez is an accomplished researcher. He's published several research projects and papers.In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, their new baby boy and their dog Milo. He likes restoring antique vehicles and swimming.
