Dr. Marc Afman was the attending overseeing my mom’s emergency medical care yesterday. She had already been seen in the ER earlier that day on her doctors orders as she is currently struggling with constant, high blood pressure that may be caused by a pheochromocytoma along with a serious brain injury caused by a roller coaster. She is seeing a Neuro Interventional Radiologist and a Cardiologist at Metro as a regular patient. After being discharged, she went completely unresponsive, so much so that the fire department tested for deceribracy (being brain dead) so vigorously she now has bruises on her sternum (day after), but she was still unresponsive for an hour. And this incompetent, sexist doctor had the audacity to say that she is “depressed and should see counseling”, after only talking to her for less than a minute. Clearly, he would not have treated a male patient like this and I think Dr. Marc Afman reflects poorly on the Metro Health/UofM hospital system.
