Dr. Marc David Bear, MD

Doesn't listen to patient, just wants to push the latest, hot new meds onto the patient. Seems to be not all there.

While I'm not a fan of the office he works out of (no matter what time of the day I'm there, and even if there is an empty waiting room, I still am never seen until at least 10 minutes AFTER my appointment was to start), I really like Dr. Bear. He is easy to talk to and he shows genuine concern. I realize his schedule is super-tight, but rarely do I feel he's rushing to get me out the door. Good doc. I definitely recommend him.

Is terrible at filling out patient's forms/paperwork in a timely manner.

Dr. Bear is a good and caring doctor. If he wasn't squeezed to death by insurance, I believe he would be a very good doctor. He tries to work within the constraints of 10 minute appointment and always expresses genuine concern for me. My biggest complaint about Dr. Bear is that he doesn't seem very up on the latest in medications. My GP had prescribed Deplin and Dr. Bear had never heard of it even though it is very common to help increase the effectiveness of antidepressants. There have been other instances where he didn't seem to know a lot about new medications. If you know exactly what you want, he is a great option. If you need someone who really knows their meds, he is not your best option.

I had to wait a month for my appointment, but it was worth it. It's tough to find a good psychiatrist. Dr. Bear listens and gets it! I never felt that he wasn't understanding what I was saying, which is rare. If he did talk therapy, I'd be interested in a session or two - otherwise, not.

While I wish that I could spend more time talking with him, he really has helped with my depression that I have had for over 15 years. I am smiling more, and he cared when I had side effects for a couple of medications that I was taking. He even set me up of a therapist, and communicates well with that person.
