Dr. Marc A. Huntoon, MD

The absolute worst pain Dr I have ever had, without even being examined I was deemed a chronic opioid person by him, and told me he would have me off the pain pills real soon then he put his hands on my neck and wrenched it right and back left hurting me. Later after tests, I had a pinched nerve in my neck now on top of the problems I have. I'm 63, with serious back issues, and the pills let me walk, that's it, they don't make me high or anything like that, he didn't care, very un professional. Then when I went in for nerve shots, he started acting like I was on serious mind altering drugs, put on 70's music and treated me like I was a stoner on acid or something, which I am not. The nurses and the office are great, a wonderful place.

He is NICE NASTY, RUDE, and No PROFESSIONAL DEMEANOR. I am young with a lot of problems that cause me to have chronic pain. he asked me do my spouse physically abused me - i told him no. He persisted to tell me how my symptoms show do look like a lot of women he has dealt with and my symptoms sure do look like a woman of abuse. What in the world??? How do he get my chronic pain and problems out of my husband of 13 years abusing me? When I left his office I was still in chronic pain and felt even worse by his words. if you are reading this please do not go to Dr Marc Huntoon he is the worst. Just the fact that he do not care about his PATIENTS. I do not know who made him a pain management doctor but your pain will not be solved by him.

Dr. Huntoon - Seems as if he has not read the chart. Has been rude, condescending and does not listen to the patient's perspective. I showed up for an appointment and it had been cancelled. No one had informed me. He wrote information in my chart regarding an examination that he had never performed. Wrote in my chart a diagnosis that he never informed me of - When I inquired about it he stated that I did not have that diagnosis - though he did not correct his charting. Is that now a preexisting condition? I have done everything that they have instructed me to do and have done my part. He has not followed through with a plan that he insisted on for pain reduction. Meanwhile - I continue to work, live, exist with pain that he thought they/VCU could help reduce. He does like to take quite a bit of appointment time to share his accomplishments and will tell you that he is a "really good guy."

I miss you Dr Huntoon!. If Anyone is considering Dr. Huntoon this is your doctor! He truly cares for his patients. I Loved Dr Huntoon, but he left Tennessee in Aug 2016 to Virginia Tech. I wish him the best, but I very much hated to see him go. He is no longer in Nashville or affiliated with Vanderbilt as his profile says. His patients got shuffled to other doctors there at Vanderbilt Pain Management clinic. I'll just say I miss Dr. Huntoon very very much and leave it at that for now. I will update this at a later date about my current doctor that I was matched with once Dr Huntoon left Vandy. Thank You Dr. Huntoon for always putting my care above everything else.

Dr Huntoons arrogance interferes with his ability to provide reasonable and consistent medical "care". When asked if I should return to see him or go to the ER if experiencing increasing pain he responded," Why don't you use the meditation skills you say you have ? " He gave no response when I asked home to please explain his diagnosis, treatment plan : goals and expectations . Sub-par!

I was referred to Dr. Huntoon because I have significant chronic, daily pain related to my chronic inflammatory disease, surgical wounds that have never completely healed, and carcinoma. In my experience, you'll wait between 1-2 hours minimum for a procedure to begin and expect to spend around 2.5-3.5 hours total time from arrival at the front desk to actually leaving the building; additionally, Dr. Huntoon himself spends very little time with his patients (<5min) after the initial new patient intake appointment. You'll spend 99% of your time at all future appts with his staff, who thankfully, are truly wonderful, friendly, and caring people. In contrast, Dr. Huntoon is not compassionate at all, though he is polite. I would not recommend him to any person in need of a pain specialist for the following reasons: 1) Unwillingness to listen to or consider the concerns of patients, 2) does not actively involve patients in the treatment decisions/planning of their care, 3) after months of… the same treatment (the very first procedure he had even tried with me), which took hours to do and only offered pain relief lasting from a few hours to about a day, Dr. Huntoon finally decided to stop giving me the procedure, but then scheduled me for a follow-up 2 months later, without any discussion. No suggestions whatsoever for any possible alternative methods, procedures, anything at all to address my daily, chronic pain while I wait 2 months for another appt. A doctor who is willing to let a patient suffer is one that doesnâ??t care about his patients. Save yourself the suffering and donâ??t waste your time, find another doctor who is actually willing to help you.
