My psychiatrist had just retired whom I had an excellent experience/relationship with for close to 10 years without incident. Prior to that I had another wonderful psychiatrist for approximately 10 years before he passed away. Finally, I have a therapist whom I see whose information I provided so he could touch base with her. Upon entering treatment years ago, I have never gone off my medication, been hospitalized and have been very responsible requesting refills. My medication 'cocktail' is also very stable. I was treated like a patient (not a client); talked down to; told he only writes scripts once a month and to make sure I take my medication so I don't end up hospitalized. He asked me if I needed any prescriptions. I could only think of one. When I got home I realized that I had forgotten one. Too late!!! My 'once a month' was done. I tried for over a week to contact him with not even a return call from his office! Finally when I got a hold of someone, I was advised… to go to the Emergency Room for the script. This was in no way an emergency room issue. This was a lazy MD, with no empathy or regard for his clients, treated me like a child and withheld my prescription for no other reason than I forgot until I returned home that same day (In the process of seeing him for the first time). I was not an individual at all!!! I finally with no other option I turned to my Internist. If you have options, use them!
