After graduating from Amherst College, Dr. Pohl received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and then interned and completed a residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland, followed by a senior residency and nephrology fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston University Medical Center and Boston City Hospital. Dr. Pohl has been affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation since 1973; his appointments have included heading the home dialysis training program, and serving as program director of the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension. Dr. Pohl has been a co-investigator in several major trials, including the Collaborative Study of Adult Nephrotic Syndrome and Adult Glomerular Disease
