I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Marc Rose upon my admission to the Indian River Medical Center for possible kidney stones. A captive audience, I was referred by the hospital. Friendly, polite, and professional - as were his staff. Having first met with Dr. Rose at the hospital upon emergency admission, he fully explained my medical issue and provided options. Kidney Stones - and I didn't need my degree from WebMD to confirm this diagnosis. Option 1 was the best option - surgery the next day and a few days of bed rest - but that wasn't going to work. I had a planned trip to Washington D.C. that I couldn't miss. Option 2 was surgery upon my return from travel. Having no choice but to accept this option, Dr. Rose provided some medicine to help deal with the pain. He also advised drinking a lot of liquid. Surgery went exactly as planned. Dr. Rose fully explained the procedure and it was then "lights out" for me. When I woke up a few hours later, I felt better and was out of… the hospital before I knew it. Dr. Rose - and his staff - followed up following the procedure. Friendly and polite, they inquired as to whether I was still in pain, etc. Good thing for the medicine - I was able to reply in the negative. No pain, Doc. I have no problem recommending Dr. Rose. Had a biopsy done for an enlarged prostate and elevated psa. Everything was good. results came back showing cancer in all 12 sites, He immediately ordered a bone scan and a second opinion. All very prompt and professional. I mentioned having my prostate removed by robotics if I was to have it removed. He does not use robotics. After that conversation I never heard from him again. He never consulted me on the bone scan. I had to get the results myself at the hospital. He never consulted me to confirm the second opinion on the biopsy results. I had to pick up the results from the front desk. I called 4 times asking for a consult. Each time the receptionist left messages to call me back. He never did. I am still perplexed and can not understand why this happened. I have never rated anyone negatively ever until now. I wish I had an explanation. But this was beyond unprofessional. I would highly recommend you stay away from Dr. Rose.

This MD is completely about himself. He doesn't listen to the patient, doesn't look at past history. If he causes an inability to urinate due to his prostate exam, don't look to him for assistance. Worst ever. Not kidding. And he "omits" information. I've now been through two prostatectomies, one simple, one follow-up radical because of the esteemed (pompous) Dr. Rose and his inaccurate biopsies. Save yourself years of worry.
