Dr. Marc B. Sonenshine, MD

I am extremely grateful to have found a gastroenterologist who truly listens and respects my pace. Navigating long-term care for digestive health is much easier when you feel like a partner in the process rather than just a patient on a conveyor belt. I have been a patient of Dr. Marc Sonenshine since 2022, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From the start, he has been incredibly proactive and professional. What I appreciate most is his collaborative approach to treatment; he is very respectful of my pace regarding treatment/medication and always ensures I feel comfortable and informed throughout the process. Dr. Sonenshine is also exceptionally responsive. Whether it’s replying to messages promptly or reaching out personally for follow-ups, I always feel like a priority. If you are looking for a doctor who is both an expert in his field and a dedicated advocate for his patients' well-being, Dr. Sonenshine is the best choice.

First visit: he ordered a couple of tests and was out the door. Made eye contact three times, and did not pretend to care about my symptoms in the least. Boy did he type, though. Second visit: first round of results inconclusive, so he throws up his hands, tries to give me a fairly hardcore psychiatric med to make me "feel better" about my symptoms, and wants me to come back to see the PA in three months. Went to ANOTHER GI the following week, and lo and behold: I have ulcerative colitis (now being treated). MY ADVICE TO YOU: AVOID THIS GUY. MY ADVICE TO THIS DOCTOR: GET A SCRIBE and maybe pay attention to what people are actually saying to you.

Very disappointed in his lack of interest in my care. He completed my entire note including the prescription all prior to even examining me as a new patient. He gave me my diagnosis and asked if I had any questions again all before examining me. As I was leaving he flips me his business card without even making eye contact and says call me if you have any problems. I understand practitioners have a lot more data entry to do but this shouldn't detract from hands on patient care. I am not sure if its because of my color, the type of insurance I have, or he was just having a bad afternoon but it was poor patient care. As a healthcare practitioner myself I am saddened when I am treated this way. I wish him all the best and hope that he takes heed to this message. I will never go back.

He knows what he is doing. have great confidence in him. A good Doctor.

This was my first visit. I was impressed with the friendly staff and the doctor was great. He wanted to earn my confidence in him and we agreed upon the next step of exploration of my symptoms. I'll be back and would refer him. In fact, my primary doctor recommended him also.

I was a new patient and Dr. Sonenshine took the time to get to know me, listened to my symptoms and concerns and set up a treatment plan that was easy to follow. He has responded very quickly to email/portal messages in the time since my appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Sonenshine!

I have been seeing Dr. Sonenshine by referral of my supervisor at work, who has also been seeing this doctor for another issue. My initial visits were all pretty pleasant. This doctor seemed to be a nice person, and while that's important, it doesn't dictate a doctor's genuine concern for resolving my medical issue and lately, that's come into question for me with this doctor. My visit today was very disappointing. I've been experiencing so many stomach issues, and Iâ??ve had test after test with no conclusion as to the source of the pain. My appointment today was at 10:15 am. I arrived and signed in at 9:52 am. At 10:45, I approached the desk asking whether or not I should reschedule as it's getting to be a bit of a wait. The doctor had previously provided some test results over the Patient Portal and included some information he asked me to have reviewed by a Gynecologist. This left me wondering what would be the need to keep this appointment, as Iâ??ve already received test… results, and Iâ??m now being instructed to see another doctor for further investigation of this issue. As the GYN appointment was made for later in October, I thought I might be able to meet with Dr. Sonenshine again after that appointment so that I might share the outcome of that visit, in the midst of our investigation of my stomach pain. However, I was asked to keep the appointment scheduled for today, although, I was unsure why. I'm not sure, but it seems like when I ask certain questions, or if I appear to be asking too many questions via email, Doctor Sonenshine's response seems a little irritated. I happen to be the type of person who is uncomfortable placing so much faith in the hands of a doctor (an imperfect human being), that I totally disconnect from concern, curiosity or the regard for questioning. When it involves my health, I'm sorry, I need to be made to feel comfortable asking questions without fear of any questions/concerns I may have, causing apparent aggravation to the person who is supposed to my healthcare provider. I have a high transpiration of Cancer in my family, including breast, colon and pancreatic. My Father was the most recent loss in 2014 of stomach (Pancreatic stage 4) Cancer. (You can only imagine my worry with each additional stomach pain I have! I'm scared!) I would appreciate patience and gentle concern in a provider, who understands the implications associated with a patient's circumstances. Dr. Sonenshine's countenance today looked like that of a person who was just "going through the motions." No care, no concern, just $$$. After being called back into the room to wait (even longer) for the doctor. I looked at the time. It was 11:04. I had waited as long as I was going to. When my stomach cramps started, I left the room. I went back to the front desk to ask if I could reschedule. A woman at the front desk, in turn, asked me if I would go back into the back office area where the ladies at the scheduling station were checking people out. I watched as Dr. Sonenshine walked back and forth, still looking unsympathetic, nonchalant and dispassionate. I stood there waiting to ask about a reschedule, but they all seemed extensively involved with other people ahead of me. I was never even recognized. I left the building after that. It was 11:16 am! And guess what, they probably could care less. â??Oh well, file the claim!â?? â??Next!!â??

It takes entirely too long to make an appointment. Average hold time is a minimum of 15 minutes. Wait time for the Dr. runs anywhere from 20-40 minutes. But, you need to be on time.

Had an issue with the medicine he ordered. When I call to see what he wanted to do, I received no help. Called for weeks left message with his assistant Jessica. Even called his personal number, he told me Jessica would call. She called still 3 weeks later and no call back. The pharmacy called I called no help. The office has call for my surgery which I won't be able to have due to NO treatment.
