Dr. Marcellus Ryan Cephas, MD

I would not go back. The staff are not helpful.

I showed up for my appointment at his Tacoma Park office, only to be seen by his PA, named Fogoo, who was very nasty, accusing me of lying about my medication, even after I called my pharmacist who confirmed them in her presence. I will never return to this doctor's office again.

Dr. Cephas is a little cocky, and a little too business-oriented. You don't go to him for emotional support. You go to him for psychopharmacology. He was able to arrest my symptoms, which is the bottom line of what I need from a psychiatrist. You will have to advocate for your needs from time to time. Some of his staff are better than others (avoid his wife if you can). Also try to avoid Ms. Uzo, the physician's assistant. Ask to see him personally, and they will get you in. He is a busy man! Blah, blah; but he was worthwhile, for me.

His secretary Vicki WILL NOT GIVE ALEX ELLER ANY MESSAGES EVEN IF IT IS AN EMERGENCY.this is going on with .I HAVE FOUND OVER 20 PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM MY VNA NURSES CALLED AND MY SOCIAL WORKER AND TWO PHARMACYSTS AND SHE NEVER CALLED ALEX EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AN EMERGENCY. THIS SECRETARY INTERSEPTS ALL PHONE CALLS AND REFUSES TO GIVE MESSAGES BC SHE DOESNT LIKE POOR PEOPLE. I CAN PROVE IT.

I have attempted to submit a review for Dr. Cephas about a dozen times, but vitals.com keeps telling me that "Use of profanity is not allowed in reviews." I'm really not sure what profanity I was using...but anyway, here's the greatly abridged version: my experiences at his office have been terrible and unprofessional, and they're still making billing mistakes and charging me for things (incorrectly) even though I haven't been there in many months.

When I went to see Dr. Cephas I was in serious serious depression. I had a long wait in a crowded waiting room where you could over hear private information about the patient who was talking on the phone with the receptionist. This unnerved me but I was in such pain and fear for my health that I stayed in hopes that the visit would be productive. Those hopes were dashed when I met Dr. Cephus. Our very short visit was constantly interrupted my phone calls and reps. He was like a small time celebrity, leaning back in the chair, laughing or talking about god knows what or jumping up to check something and I'm sitting there mid thought having just said I was so depressed i couldn't face another day. After 30 minutes of this which I got maybe 10 real face to face minutes in he turned around and gave me three different boxes of psychotropic meds to sample and said to schedule therapy with his wife. I never took those meds. I found a really good psychiatrist after a while and am… now doing so much better. I would say Dr. Cephas is more interested in his golf game than really caring for patients. He was dismissive and preoccupied, not a good combination.

He is Thee Best Dr. Has helped me get out of the deepest, darkest hole I have ever been in or even thought it was possible to be stuck in a place where you can't get out of in your own mind. It's hard to explain because my story is so long but it doesn't take much because he understands. He is kind & very supporting. A great man & a great Doctor who has saved my life! His whole staff & team are a true blessing* Thank You!

Treated by him for almost a year, and never once has he spoken a word to me or even looked at me. Has his staff do everything, including diagnose illnesses and write prescriptions. His practice is a factory...in the door and out, as long as you can pay to come have an appointment with...who will it be this time? No idea.

I was referred to Dr. Cephas & had no difficulty in scheduling an appointment with his physician's assistant. Only through her can you actually see Dr. Cephas. Supposedly, he is only in-house on Thurs. & Fri. The office doubles & triple-books appts so waiting to see the PA takes hours.Dr. Cephas himself is quite charming; however, don't expect to ever hear from him if you try to call. After prescribing the maximum doses of 2 SSRI's, I developed Serotonin Syndrome, which apparently the PA says doesn't exist and called his office on Fri (the days Dr. Cephas is suppose to be in-house) for 2 weeks straight & explained my symptoms & never rec'd a call back. When I finally did hear from the PA, she said that my symptoms had nothing to do with the medications & tried to prescribe other medications. As a result of the serotonin syndrome, I was hospitalized in an ICU ward for 2 days & my Primary Care Manager was left with the responsibility of straightening out the medications.
