Dr. Marci Lynn Cook, MD

Years later I am still triggered by how terrible my experience with Dr. Cook was. The first time I went to her, I was 19, home from college and went to her for a pap smear. I spent a long time waiting, but otherwise it was fine. After talking with Dr. Cook, she recommends I get tested for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome to see if that contributed to my acne and I go for it. A week or so later, I get a call that I need to come in for my results. I am terrified. I drive two hours home, bring my mom to the appointment because I’m so scared, and was told by Dr. Cook that my results are fine and that she just wanted to talk to me “about my health.” I’m a bit shaken up, but relieved. Some time later, I get a bill for the doctor’s visit with a $75 co-pay for a doctor consultation, AKA the appointment I went to just to hear nothing was wrong. I was young and let it go. I continued to go to her for pap smears for a few more years and it was okay. I lived abroad and missed two years of pap… smears, but went to Dr. Cook sometime in 2016. Same thing happens — she runs a test for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. She was also unable to draw blood, which required me to go to Lab Corps and pay even more money than I was by going to Dr. Cook. She called and said I needed to come in for my results. I’m skeptical, but can’t help but think “what if something is actually wrong?” So I take the time off work and go to my consultation. Once again, everything is completely fine and this time she says she wanted to talk to me about my health and safe sex (even though my sexual activity and safety measures thereof had not been addressed). By this point, I am angry. I talked to other friends in the medical industry who told me this is absurd. By the time I get a bill that is $75 for the consultation (not including the amount I was charged for the tests she ran), I call her staff, ask to talk to Dr. Cook, and I am livid. I told her that she is scamming her patients and simply trying to get as much money as she can. Her response? She accused me of not caring about my health. Since then, I have gone to another gynecologist that is straight up. She doesn’t require me to come in to hear my results (unless there would be a real issue of course) and she is extremely transparent. Dr. Cook opened my eyes to a disappointing side of health care that I hope no one else has to experience.

It took my quite a while to come to the conclusion that even going through the horror of finding another gynecologist was worth not coming back here for any reason. Part of what is currently going on with me is directly related to medications prescribed and procedures performed that were not tracked appropriately. I had to directly ask a new internal medicine doctor and an endocrinologist to get the answer when they started pulling me off the medications I had been put on. I was told I had Type II Diabetes/pre-diabetes, which turns out not to be true. At least one prescription is known to cause issues with weight, yet I was told to take the medication. And when treatment prescribed did not have the desired result (a period, of any sort), there was never a question that perhaps the diagnosis was not correct. I wish I had known how to research doctors and my rights as a patient during this time period, but I did not. All I can do is tell my story and hope that other people look up… medications and make sure that they are closely monitored with blood tests (more than yearly), and that if the treatment for the diagnosis does not result in a positive outcome, look elsewhere. It is hard; doctors are trained to look for horses and not zebras, and to not think out of the box. Be aware that just because the doctor starts off thinking outside the box, they might not continue to do so. It is hard. Get a second opinion if you have a question. Check the licensing board for your state. Read reviews.

I appreciated visiting a doctor that listens and actually cares about solving your problem to the best of human abilities. I highly recommend her as I am a sensitive and difficult patient to work with.

I have been to see Dr. Cook three times recently and I could not be happier with a doctor. Dr. Cook answered all my questions, spent amble time with me and put me at ease. Dr. Cook was recommended by not one but two doctor friends.

Dr.Marci krop cook is an excellent doctor....When I walked into the office, everyone was really friendly....since i had pcos and high prolactin level and ttc for past 2 years with failure and i found dr.cook she is really great that i conceived naturally (i.e without iui,ivf and clomid) within 4 month of her treatment....she did accurate diagnosis......dr.cook prescribed perfect medications to overcome from microadenoma which helps me great to get pregnant soon....but unfortunately we missed her because we r moving to different state and she perfectly prepared my medical report which i come through and handover it to me at my last visit becuase i'm having microadenoma i need medical help to keep it control and she said if u having any doubt or if ur next endocrinologist or gynocologist having need any previous medical reports you can call at any working day...she is best doctor ever

I've visited Dr. Cooks office 3 times, each time I have had to wait an hour or more to be seen. Are they over scheduled or understaffed? It's absolutely ridiculous. This is how each appointment went: Check-In. Wait an hour. Dr. Cook comes out to get you and takes you to a room (doesn't even thank you for waiting). She tells you to get undressed and leaves you there waiting for what seems like hours, prob more like 15 minutes (still too long). The appointment takes about 15 minutes of her time and then she escorts you out. I can't seem to understand why it takes so long to be seen. In my opinion, she isn't a good listener and doesn't have great follow-up skills. I feel like I should be able to call my doctor with any concerns. Btw, I am a regular patient who just goes for the annual paps and STD testing. I don't want to find another GYN bc I get tired of filling out paperwork at different offices, so I have settled to put up with Dr. Cook and her having no regard for her patients… time.

A long-time patient, but over the last year or so, something changed. Its usually difficult to get a phone call back, but the last few times it has taken 6 weeks. She's talked to other physicians I see without letting me know, almost as if she doesn't believe what I've said. A few years ago I questioned staying, and now I'm questioning again. She no longer seems willing to think outside the box, and that was a huge reason for me to keep seeing her. I'm not sure if I'll go back again or not.

I really liked Dr. Krop Cook and I found her (and her nurse) to be very professional and helpful. She was knowledgeable, friendly, available, and easy to make appointments with. Overall, I was pleased with her practice. However, I am a teacher and it was frustrating that she would only do appointments in the morning for fertility issues, so I was always late for work and then, even though I was often the first appointment, I often waited 35-50 minutes to even see her. I wish she would be willing to do appointments later in the day, too...and would be more timely. It caused a lot of anxiety.

I do not recommend Dr. Marci to any women. She does not have any human touch. She hold my blood work results for three months refusing to send me a copy of the results. She asked me to pay money to have a copy of the blood results. After three months I recieved a copy from my blood results, I shocked when I saw upnormal blood resutls. During the three month I called many times to ask for the blood results and the nurses in her office assured me that if there is upnormality in the result the doctor would call me, and she never did.
