Dr. Marcia Jean Howton, MD

When I WAS GOING YO Dr. Howton for pain management, I became a nervous wreck about 2 days before my appointments. She had a terrible bedside manner and always seemed huffy to me. I have heard other nightmare stories from 2 other patients of hers. She never really helped me with my pain either. STAY AWAY!

I've been going to Dr. Howton for over 1 year now and I'm seriously considering looking into other options. She schedules appointments and when I arrive the office isn't even open -they don't bother calling to cancel. My pain has been increasing due to arthritis and other joint issues I have and the pain medication she gives me has not worked well since the beginning. She refuses to try anything else which makes me think she is getting a kickback on this new med. This med is top dollar and has no generic and this has been a concern of mine since the beginning. I was also charged $25 to pick up a RX because she couldn't see me before my RX ran out. Was not seen by the Dr.

Dr. Howton has pathetic bedside manners if you question her opinion. She is condescending, patronizing and puts off a "how dare you question my methods" vibe... all while smiling at you. She has a passive-aggressive way of putting you down with veiled insults.

I've had a wonderful experience with Dr. Howton. I was on a lot of morphine and other pain meds when I went to her, wanting to get off some of these meds. The way that's she's been with me is amazing, she offers other means to deal with pain and the addiction to pain meds. In 6 months I was off all morphine ( 60mg 2 times a day) The amazing thing is I didn't hurt a bit more when I got off the morphine. I thought it would be so hard, it wasn't and I'm so glad for a clearer mind and body.The meditation she offers is really useful, if you stay with it. You have to be committed to it. I've been to several pain Drs. and hands down Dr. Howton is the best. I feel blessed to have her as my DR.We are continuing to work on getting me off all pain meds. and I feel confidant that I will be able to do this with her help. Her office staff is also very outstanding. They really care there and I for one really appreciate them.

Dr. Howton is a wonderfully caring, careful healer. I founder her treatment and her staff to be everything I want or need in professional medical supervision and treatment. I especially liked her reluctance to treat by pills rather than behavior modification. I took her advice, and I got much better without a lot of unnecessary chemicals. She's the best.

First time a physician really listened to my problems, and offered hope, and a thorough treatment plan.

Unfriendly, dislike and coldness pours out of this office, which is why I ended my relationship with them. Then they tried to charge me as a regular 'patient' without medicare, within a day, not how medicare works, which I'm positive she is aware of.the top rating is not mine.
