Dr. Marcia Jo Sparling, MD

I have been a patient for nine years. Dr Sparling us always on time. She listens and is very engaged with what I have to say and always addresses my variety of medical concerns. Can’t rate her highly enough

Dr. Sparling lectured me for half of the appointment trying to make me feel bad about taking pain medication my primary care physician had prescribed for an injury and chronic pain symptoms (suspected fibromyalgia). She treated me like a drug seeker and wrote extremely condescending notes in my medical file.Dr. Sparling did not realize that I was taking Prozac (even though it was prescribed by another doctor in the same clinic and the information was available in their database) and prescribed a medication that is contraindicated due to risk of seizure. When the pharmacy recognized this, rather than admitted the mistake Dr. Sparling accused me of purposefully concealing this fact and treated me like a liar and a drug addict. I had to wait a month to see her, it cost my $500 for the appointment and $400 in blood tests, and she basically told me my problem was psychological and to "deal with it".

I have been diagnosed with Lupus/Scleroderma and it's been a battle at every turn. I now feel like I don't have to worry about my next symptom. I feel like Dr. Sparling knows her stuff and I'm in good hands. It was not easy getting an appointment with her and when I sit in her waiting room I hear the front office staff do nothing but talk about their personal life and also talk on the phone about how their weekend went. I work in the medical field and this diagnosis is a big deal for me. I had to fight for an appointment not having a referral from a Dr. at this clinic to getting my records sent but I'm happy to turn over my next health issue to Dr. Sparling. Being in the medical field for over 23 years I'd like to have more professional staff helping me but Dr. Sparling herself has lifted some heavy weights from my shoulders.
