Dr. Marcie Lee Sidman, MD

My initial experience with Marcie Sidman was fairly positive, however it went quickly downhill from there since she did not follow up on the results of an xray that was to determine if i broke my hand....she didn't follow up until 4 days after the xray was taken to officially communicate the results...i had to continually call the office to get the results and they finally released them after 2.5 days....this office has very poor communication skills and the follow up care was pathetic. BEWARE!!!!!

I think she is one of the best doctors I have ever run across. She is caring, takes all the time you need and never makes you think she is in a hurry to see another patient. She always follows through on any complaint I might have and calls me personally with the results. I cannot believe anyone would find a problem with her. I think she is a terrific doctor and have sent many of my friends to her and they all love her.

Dr. Sidman failed to diagnose a very badly herniated disc on me even though I had sciatic symptoms (numbness half way down my calf). After a month of physical therapy while i continued to deteriorate to the point i could barely walk, I had a follow up appointment with her nurse practicioner since i couldn't get in to see Sidman and I couldn't get her to call me. I was in tears with the NP and asked for an MRI. I was told that it wouldn't show anything and that i just had to bear with it for maybe a year. Two days later I was in screaming pain from the sciatic nerve and after demanding a call from the doctor finally convinced her to order an MRI. When they got the results i was told to stop PT immediately. 2 surgeons told me i had no choice but to have surgery because i had already lost my Achilles reflex. Dr. Sidman lied in a letter to me after the visit to the first surgeon stating that he had recommended "continued conservative care" along with surgical options. This was a… blatant LIE. The only recommendation was for surgery. A year later i am 40 years old, thin, in very good shape with the exception of a probably permanently numb foot, calf and reduced use of the Achilles. Lay people took one look at me and said "You have a blown disc". Too bad my doctor couldn't figure it out.

Dr. Sidman, after misdiagnosing me with a potentially fatal illness ( and after 4 weeks of trying) called me on Sunday morning to cry into the phone that she was sorry and had "failed me". This doesn't instill confidence.My follow up appoinment after hospitalization with her was made even more bizarre after her weepy call when she had no access to my hospital records(she claimed they were waiting to be scanned onto the computer), dodged even basic questions and out right lied about my lack of continuity of care to monitor my Coumadin levels. Be very careful, Sidman patients. She's a menace.

Dr. Sidman is actually and Harborlight Family Medicine in Beverly now, a relatively new practice. While Dr. Sidman seems nice and intelligent enough, it is difficult to get in to see her, and there is a long wait once you are in the office. The office staff is quite unpleasant and unprofessional, and the office is closed on Saturdays.
