Dr. Cervantes is one of the best doctor's I've ever had. He listens and show compassion in his patient's.

My 13-year-old teenage daughter went to Mason Family Health Center today to get checked for chicken pox. My husband was with her. Dr. Marcus Cervantes, MD checked her in private and confirmed that she did have chicken pox. He asked her to take off her shirt so he could confirm and she did. Then she put her shirt right back on. A few minutes later, four doctors opened the door and Dr. Cervantes invited them to come into the room and look at my daughter’s lesions. He started to pull up her shirt without asking for permission from my husband or my daughter. She said, “no, there are some on my neck that they can see.” He ignored this request and pulled up her shirt, showing all of the men the lesions. She was embarrassed and shocked and my husband was shocked as well. Every other time he or I have been in this practice with other doctors, they always ask us first if it is ok for student doctors to come in and observe. But Dr. Cervantes did not do this. After a few minutes,… the doctors left. Dr. Cervantes explained at that point that it was good and important that they saw the lesions because they have never seen them before. However, he never asked her if it was ok or acknowledged that he should have asked first. He did not seem to notice her discomfort or embarrassment. Before the end of the visit, another student doctor opened the door and Dr. Cervantes invited him in, saying, “Hey, you want to see some chicken pox?” and again started to pull up her shirt. She again said, “No, he can look at the ones on my neck.” But Dr. Cervantes ignored this request again and pulled up her shirt for the student doctor to look at. She felt embarrassed, humiliated, ignored and violated. To complete the visit, he said that she was “the unusual one” that day. She said that she went there because she felt sick and tired and wanted help. She was very vulnerable, and instead of being taken care of, she was treated like a thing, given no respect, and was taken care of poorly. My family will never go to this doctor or this practice again and we want other people to know what type of person and doctor Dr. Marcus Cervantes is. Cynthia L. Gardiner, Michigan
