fusion and decompression wow it works! the caromont recovery floor was a disaster.they refused to follow Dr orders withheld pain meds claiming their policies but my charts all show I received meds every 2 - 4 hours.

Dr. Schmitz did two fusions at the same time on my lower back. He was wonderful. Had my up and walking with a walker the next day. Yes their was pain but nothing like it was before the surgery. I would advise any one to see him for all of the spinal needs.

Dr Schmitz is one the best neurosurgeons I've had both in Pensacola and Dothan. His ability to properly diagnosis me, (which 3 other neurosurgeons in Pensacola didn't). He also did surgery in me and I'm feeling wonderful again. To set the record straight on a preview review, Dr Schmitz did NOT lose his privileges at the hospitals in Pensacola. He resigned from the Meducal Center Clinic, and due to a non-compete clause in his contract he could no longer practice in Pensacola for 2 years. He was highly regarded neurosurgeon in Pensacola and many patients, including myself, miss having him in Pensacola. Pensacola lost a dedicated and helpful physician. Please people get your facts correct before you write stuff.

After 2 unsuccessful surgeries in Birmingham, Dr. Schimtz was recommended to us. He sat at length discussing my medical situation with me. I had surgery 3 days later and received excellent care and follow up.

Dr. Schmitz performed a spinal fusion of two vertebrae in my neck. He was very thorough in explaining the procedure, etc. I reserved judgement on him until post surgery when I was in recovery and the hospital staff where giving me stellar reports on him. They know/confirmed.

The staff tht I've met, Carol and Alex, are extremely professional and courteous. Dr. Schmitz is highly knowledgeable in his field and thourough in his efforts to make a diagnosis and a treatment plan. He is a great mix of conservatism and aggressiveness in treating a patient. He listens well and is patient with questions. I highly recommend him.

One of the best doctors I've ever hard. Very caring and very professional. The penasola area is very lucky to have him.

The worse experience I've ever had with any doctor. His bedside manner was extremely bad...He was very cold, rude & showed a complete disregard for my concerns. I would rate this dr visit as 0 stars. No, I will not ever go back to him nor recommend him to anyone else. No one should feel this way, period!

Dr. Schmitz is professional, a disc fusion by him resulted in severe pain and spasm for 3.5 years. Some years later Radio Freequency burning of the nerve by the Pain MD is the only way to obtain relief. I experience recurring pain and spasms just lifting my arm to shoulder level. His follow up proceedure seemed more to protect himself against a lawsuit than to resolve my issue.

Dr. Schmitz has been caring for my mother-in-law for several years and has been both compassionate and accurate in his treatment. She is finally up and out of bed and pain-free. Dr. Schmitz took the time not only to listen to her but also was patient while I translated back and forth. He fully explained all options for treatment and did surgery as the last option. He was patient with her questions and showed her on the x-rays before and after what the procedures were. Thank you Dr. Schmitz for your expertise. I highly recommend Dr. Schmitz.
