Dr. Marek Filipiuk, MD

I strongly agree with the many online reviews describing this doctor as unprofessional, uncaring, flippant, and condescending. His bedside manner was deeply troubling, and our experience raised serious concerns about his medical judgment. In treating our 90-year-old mother, he appeared to dismiss a serious condition, discontinued IV hydration, and insisted she drink fluids even though she could not swallow safely. He also discharged her prematurely after a catastrophic incident, despite her clear need for further medical care and monitoring. Based on our experience, I would not trust him with the care of a vulnerable patient. One star is far more generous than this experience deserved.

I was shocked at his rudeness and insincerity when he told my brother-in-law, my sisters and I that we should just let the nurses rip the bipap off of my sister and let her die, in those exact words. It was totally unprofessional and not what we needed to hear as we were struggling with her sudden sepsis diagnosis and impending death. Learn some bedside manners or stay away from hospitals and grieving families. My rating would be -100 if that were a choice.

My mother was admitted into Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in August 2023 for 5 days. Dr. Filipiuk is the doctor that my sister and I met with while he was on his rounds in the afternoon. We were very impressed by the way he communicated with us about mother's diagnosis and was open, honest, patient and compassionate about her care and well being. He was engaging with both my sister I, and husband answering our questions and gently clarifying his findings on her illness, and choices we needed to make. We highly recommend Dr. Marek Filipiuk.

Put me on a satin for moderately elevated cholesterol. I had severe muscle pains in legs on this med. He brushed off the issue like it was nothing. I still suffer from muscle destruction many years later.

Does not listen to patients' concerns or accurately reviews medical histories

One-way communication of what he thinks is appropriate diagnosis and treatment - does not listen to patient and does not take previous medical complications into consideration

Definately not my doctor. This man stops in your room at good Good Shepherd to introduce himself and hand his card over. Then he bills you for $425 hoping that when your hospital stay is over you will not remember who "Best Practices Inpatient" is. Horrible to take advange of people sick in the hospital like that!
