Dr. Marela Zoe Velez Torres, MD

Dr. Marela Velez graduated, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto
Rico with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She also received her medical
degree from the University of Puerto Rico graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr.
Velez completed her residency and later her fellowship at the University of
South Florida College of Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine
and Infectious Diseases.

As an Infectious Disease fellow, she acquired extensive clinical experience.
She also had the opportunity to present at the Infectious Diseases Society
of America’s annual meeting in 2009. During her fellowship, Dr. Velez was
a sub-investigator at the Research Unit at the Hillsborough County Health
Department. She holds an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Velez is a member of several professional organizations including: the American College of Physicians, the American Medical …Association and Infectious Diseases Society of America. She joined Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay in 2010.
