Dr. Margaret Mary Burns

Dr. Burns was welcoming, thorough, knowledgeable, easy to talk to and very attentive. She spent a great deal of time with me on my first visit, she asked probing questions, and she made sure we had covered every possible issue. Great staff and follow-ups.

I agree that it is great that Dr. Burns spends a good amount of time with patients, much more than I have seen with any other doctor I have seen in the last 25 years. She works with you to try the best your care is both affordable and effective to suit your own individual needs. She is very bright and caring, and has an excellent manner, and good heart. Never have to wait long at all, so appointment times are generally very close to when I have actually been seen. Many of her patients are elderly. I trust her with my own mom.

Dr. Burns office is pleasant, more like a sitting room than an office, with classical music on the radio, nice magazines. Sofia, the office manager is business-like, not chatty, but attentive and organized. Running a medical office these days is challenging work - I know because I have my own. Dr. Burns has a gentle style but is firm about making sure I follow up on tests, etc. She is thorough in her examinations and assessment questions. I came to her from a 'famous' Soho doctor; it is like stepping out of a nightmare into pleasant reality!

Dr. Burns is very caring and will spend time with you.

I know Dr. Burns only as someone in my neighborhood. She is a rude, hostile, unsociable, and unfriendly woman. A friend saw her as a doctor and reported her to be "one of the worst." She said that Dr. Burns office was a disaster area. With so many doctors in NYC, I would certainly stay away.

After a couple of appointments that were disappointing, if not totally ridiculous in which the doctor was more interested in jabbering on about something completely different from what I was there for...and a couple that were canceled completely,I decided to change doctors. Not only is it a pain getting in touch with this doctor (the receptionist is an iron gate) it is a pain just dealing with the receptionist! I never got tests back, and when I called even just for an appointment the receptionist acted as if I was silly to think I could ever get an appointment at all when I needed one. Trying to describe that I was sick didn't matter either. This practice is NOT concerned about anyone's health, its about the money. They even tried to get me to pay a co-pay for a simple blood draw, which they made me come back another time for. I refused because it wasn't an appointment and I knew it was wrong, they were being fraudulent. I pretty much got a direct confession, as the… receptionist started freaking out about her 'totals for the week.' Even if you get in to see the doctor, don't bother telling her what works for you especially if it's something that is a natural remedy---she will completely ignore you and tell you that you need a script. In a sense she was good because if something was working for you and you needed a refill, she would just write it. However she would only write for 1 refill so you had to come back to see her again and pay another co-pay..... Basically dealing with them is a big pain and if you are already sick, well....it just makes it that much worse.
