Dr. Margaret Anne Eagan, MD

I saw Dr. Eagan today after never getting anywhere with my other doctors for an autoimmune disorder. I finally feel heard. It’s not a super common disorder and I don’t think other doctors I have seen really knew how to treat it. But Dr. Eagan knew exactly why I was not feeling well and understood my problem. I am extremely happy to have found Dr. Eagan.

She is probably the best endocrinologist I've seen.

You would be very hard pressed to find a physician who is more detailed in her evaluation, who is more caring, and who is medically more bright! She is awesome!

Dr Eagan has a horrendous bedside manner in my experience. I was looking for a woman endocrinologist that would understand and could relate to a young professional women who had total thyroidectomy surgery while 5 months pregnant, a doctor who would have compassion for a new mother with thyroid cancer. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when I was 33 years old and 4 months pregnant. I had total thyroidectomy surgery when I was 5 months pregnant. Dr Eagan did not acknowledge my infant daughter during my initial appointment with her, she was very cold and impersonal and did not to have the knowledge that her office assistant provided me. In hindsight, this ignorance or lack of communication should have been a huge red flag, but at the time I did completely understand the circumstances of my disease or the protocol for treatment. This is the time that you rely on the physicians expertise. During one office visit I waited for 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment to see Dr Eagan and… informed that she was at lunch, in the waiting room with me was a pharmacy representative, when Dr Eagan entered the office she had a meeting with the pharmacy representative before seeing me, this extended my wait time in her office for 1 hour past the scheduled appointment time. Dr Eagan was not knowledgeable about the most current research, protocol, and follow up treatment of thyroid cancer, she made many errors in the treatment protocol including overdosing the therapeutic use of radioactive iodine. Dr Eagan prescribed an additional 100 millicuries of Radioactive Iodine (I-131) therapy over and above the treatment protocol. Dr Eagan prescribed 150 millicuries total from which I suffered negative side effects. All of the research on thyroid cancer indicates that lower-dose Radioiodine is just as effective against Thyroid Cancer with many less side effects; dosage is for thyroid cancer tumors smaller than 4cm that has not spread to any areas outside the thyroid. Dr Eagan did not use the correct scheduling and testing for the use of Thyrogen as a diagnostic tool in the detection of further thyroid cancer after a total thyroidectomy. This misdirection of the Thyrogen injection schedule made the test totally null and a total waist of time and funds. I was never called with testing or lab results as promised by Dr Eagan and her staff and had to call her office and leave multiple messages to get any information about my testing results. The staff was not friendly or supportive even when they made grave errors in scheduling and medical treatment protocols. I have since had excellent care by expert and knowledgeable Endocrine physicians who keep up to date on the most current thyroid cancer research available that ensures me as a patients stays in the best possible health and is not exposed to, or overloaded with toxins that effect my health long term. My current physicians were deliberate and kind enough to explain the many errors that Dr Eagan made in her treatment regiment and diagnostic protocol of my thyroid cancer. I adamantly recommend finding another endocrinologist other than and Dr Margaret Eagan for your health care requirements.

She treated me like her brother.

I became a patient of Dr. Eagan in late 1995 and have been with her since. She has always been caring, thorough and extremely effective.

The staff at the front desk was unprofessional in every way. As I was trying to check out and leave my paper work as directed by the doctor, I stood at the counter for several minutes...the staff was in the adjacent waiting room area eating their lunches and didn't bother to ask to see what I needed and didn't get up - just kept eating thier lunches and talking about patients in a derogatory manner. How lazy and unprofessional....Depsicable display.

Dr. Eagan is very caring and takes time to listen. Test results are given to you promptly. I really like this doctor and her staff.
