Dr. Margaret Anne Lynch, MD

Dr. Lynch was extremely rushed, rude, and dismissive. No comprehensive testing was conducted to address the actual issue. The patient came in with extreme ear/eye/head pain, and yet no bloodwork was ordered, no X-rays recommended, or even a simple ear exam with an otoscope performed. When we pointed out her rushed and dismissive behavior, she stated she is rushed because "this is an urgent care and there are other patients" as if we were not one of those patients, and noted that she had been working in this field for 20 years. Within that long tenure, it is difficult to understand how basic comprehensive examination practices and respectful patient communication have not become standard. This was not just a bad experience. It was a dangerous one. Patients under Dr. Lynch's care may be at serious medical risk due to what appeared to be a lack of thorough examination and disregard for patient concerns. We strongly recommend Duke leadership take this issue seriously.

Dr. Lynch was the worst provider I have seen in my entire life, which is unfortunate because the front desk staff and nurses at Duke Urgent Care in Holly Springs are all great, as well as the PA Michelle I saw several weeks ago. Dr. Lynch came in the room already seeming angry and committed to misunderstanding me. She got ALL the details I had shared with the nurse WRONG, including medications I was on for the issue and what had worked in the past. When I gently and respectfully tried to correct her, she quickly spoke over me and began to lecture me on how this was an “urgent care for urgent issues” (umm ya pretty sure deep cough, lung pain, and nausea is urgent) and that I just needed to wait and call my ENT or go to the ER. Then when I became frustrated and finally (for once) stood up for myself and told her she wasn’t listening to me, she went off about how she was “practicing good American medicine blah blah blah”….I have never been so handily dismissed and it was the only time in… my life I have actually walked out of a doctor’s appt. It was horrible and I cried the whole way home. She also stated in her notes that she offered me a steroid inhaler which she did NOT. Why lie about that?! My experience was very much like the other negative ones written about her (check yelp). If you’re considering going, I would definitely call ahead and ask which Dr or Physician Assistant is seeing patients that day and go somewhere else if it’s her. You’ll thank me.

Disappointing I’m 61 and had 2 problems when I came in. She said she could only see me for 1. Ah well I hope no one goes in having a chest pains and a severe migraine as this Doc wants to get you in and out or maybe run you through twice regardless no one is ever in the waiting room.
