Dr. Margaret Robling, MD

Best psychiatrist ever, she was thorough before subscribing medication and listened to my concerns and needs. I miss her....she abruptly was gone from Thrive in Oak Park.

I don't usually write reviews and understand everyone has different experiences. I have seen approximately seven different psychiatrists for severe generalized anxiety since age nine but my anxiety became relentless after stopping hormone therapy at age 44 for menopause. Most doctors treat you like you are looking to score specific medications; I simply want to get better so that I don't feel like doom all day. Dr. Robling was the first doctor who is just as interested in finding a solution to my mental illness as I am. Yes, not accepting insurance is an inconvenience, but today's health care environment is much different than 20 years ago. I finally found a psychiatrist in which I am not afraid to speak the truth and not feel like I am being scrutinized by my odd questions. I know what works for me, what doesn't work for me and take my mental health seriously. She is the very first doctor that enabled me to be comfortable asking her questions many of us would be… intimidated to ask due to perhaps being judged. She is worth every penny to have a doctor take my illness as serious as I do (but I do wish she accepted insurance). I finally feel more in control and not fearful to share my ideas and information about medication, my thought process, my issues with suicidal thoughts (thoughts...not plans) and feel she cares. I ask a lot of questions and she provides me the answers. One of the--if not the only--psychiatrist I feel as if we are working together not as if I have little or no say in my treatment plan. I truly hope everyone who has mental illness finds a solution to cope and learn to embrace life and finds excellent treatment with Dr. Robling or with a more suitable psychiatrist for your needs. #thestruggleisreal
