Dr. Margaret Alice Shepp, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Shepp for 25 years and she is without a doubt a very caring, compassionate, and understanding doctor. Because of the system at Martin's Point, she is limited in the amount of time she spends with her patients. Unfortunately, she will be retiring in June, and she will be sorely missed. She is the greatest, and I hope Martin's Point is aware of just what they are about to lose with her departure.

I HAVE BEEN WITH DR SHEPP SINCE I CAME T MAINE 9 YRS AGO. HER DIAGNOSTIC SKILLS ARE EXCELLENT. SHE IS EMPATHETIC, COMPASSIONATE,A TRUE PEOPLE PERSON.I WAS VERY SICK WITH MRSA PNUEMONIA AND RE3FUSED T GO TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE THE CONFIRMING DIAGNOSTIC TEST FOR MY DIAGNOSIS DID NOT END UNTIL 8 PM ONE NITE. I HAD NO ONE TO TAKE CARE OF MY DOG.SHE ASKED IF SHE TOOK MY DOG "MILES" WOULD I THEN GO TO THE HOSPITAL.I SAID "YES" WITHTEARS OF THANKS IN MY EYES.I AM A NURSE BY TRAINING AND DR SHEPP LISTENS TO ME-TO MY OPINIONS, OFFERS OPTIONS AND SOMETIMES OFFERS ULTIMATUMS IF MY CONDITION DIDNT IMPROVE BY A CERTAIN TIMEFRAME.SHE IS UP FRONT AND HONEST WITH HER PATIENTS AND EXHAUSTS JUST ABOUT EVERY AND ANYTHING TO GET RESULTS. SHE HAS OFTEN STAYED LATE SO THAT I COULD BE SEEN. I TALK WITH HER ON THE PHONE OFTEN ABOUT MY HEALTH CONCERNS,CONDITIONS AND SYMPTOMS. NEXT TO DR RAYMOND EBARB IN WEST SAYVILLE,NY., SHE IS ONE OF 2 TOP DOCTORS I WOULD RECOMMEND TO SOMEONE.

Dr. Shepp is an excellent physician. I have been a patient for 20 years. Her current location at Martins Point Health Care Center severely limits her communications and connections directly with her patients.Martin's Point Health Care office management is terrible and this poor management hurts the all the doctors reputation! Unqualified phone staff triage the information and make unqualified determinations how urgent the request is and who should intervene before bothering the doctors. It is accurate to say 99% of my call get filtered and handled by Dr. Shepp's assistant. I call maybe 5 times a year and when visiting in person with Dr. Shepp, I am shocked at the information she never received because someone decided to handle the issue and not involve the dr. Dr. Shepp is WONDERFUL. Martins Point is HORRIBLE.
