Dr. Margaret Zavada Summitt, MD

Maybe some of the doctors at MOGA do have sense, but Margaret Summitt is absolutely awful. MOGA was highly recommended to me in general, and then Margaret Summitt was recommended so I went there and saw her. She was extremely rude and outrageously ignorant. She said there was no correlation between migraines and gynecological issues, which is of course completely wrong and just a ridiculous thing to say since it’s well documented in medical literature. Then she wanted me to get back on a hormonal birth control method that I told her I was just on and had to stop taking because it caused severe depression and suicidal thoughts. I refused to get back on it because I'm not not going to put myself through that again. She is dangerous in my opinion and shouldn't be practicing.

Arrived at 9am as directed for a 9:15 appointment. Went to room at 10:am. Tried to give history but was informed by MD "all that doesn't matter now". Was never asked about childbirth, sexual partners, concerns. Stongly felt that if I had any other questions or wanted a second opinion I would not be a "good patient". Did not get the PAP smear or STD testing that I would have liked because the MD had already decided that I needed invasive procedures that she felt necesary. I do not disagree with her feelings of the need for tests, but felt pushed and resistant to anything, so I left with nothing. Also, I do not believe that a co-pay is necessary for "preventive care", but that is another issue that I can take up with BCBS. Reinforced my idea of not using women MDs.

Dr. Margaret Summitt is a wonderful doctor. It is rare to find a doctor with her wonderful bedside manners. She really treat me like she cares about me like a friend. I give her 5 stars for all the many years that she has been by doctor. The one word I use to describe Dr. Summitt is "Awesome". I am a Veteran of the US Army and having Dr. Summitt as my doctor has definately made it worth while to have serve my country. Is is a stellar Doctor and a remarkable woman.

Dr. Summitt performed surgery on my sister-in law last Oct. 2010; my sister-in-law was told she has MRSA; to date of this review my sister-in-law continues to have foul-smelling drainage from the operative site, healing is incomplete. She needs to have an I&D to get to the basis of where this infection is coming from, and apparently my sister-in-law needs a consultation with ID specialist to determine what is the best treatment to rid her of this infection and allow her to heal. To her knowledge no studies have been done to monitor her kidney or liver functions, despite the fact that she has been on and off antibiotics since Oct. 2010 surgery. This is worse than malpractice...it's totally incompetent. Everyone in the area needs to know about this physician!
