Dr. Margarita Gedminaite Gormus, MD

About 20 yrs ago I saw my primary care physician because I was having difficulty sleeping. After a 2 minute interview the doctor told me that I was suffering from depression and referred me to a local psychiatrist. Although I told my doctor that I didn't feel depressed he convinced me that that was the reason for my sleepless nights. I did not know then that I was to embark on a 20 year journey of taking numerous toxic anti-depressants that not only did not solve the problem but increased my body weight by over 30 lbs. After spending several tens of thousands of dollars for therapies and meds, (meds out of pocket was over $500.00/mn), I asked the psychiatrist to be put on a medication management program only, ( spent 2 yrs in therapy). About 4 yrs ago I relocated back to NJ and did not have insurance. The meds cost alone would now run me nearly $1000.00/mn, a sum I could not afford. I was told about a clinic in Morris county that dispensed my meds free of charge if I qualified under a… low income program, (unfortunately for you this program no longer exists). I saw my therapist on a monthly basis who would only ask me how I felt and then would dispense to me my meds.About 14 months ago my therapist left and I was assigned to Dr. Margarita Gormus. After reviewing my past medical history Dr. Gormus asked me a number of questions at the end of each visit. I was not accustomed to this and at the end of my 3rd visit Dr. Gormus suggested to me that she thought I was suffering from insomnia and not depression. She gave me 2 Rx's and I took them that night. To my amazement I had a peaceful sleep for a solid 8 hrs. About 48 hrs later Dr. Gormus called me to see how I was doing and I told her just fine.Regrettably Dr. Gormus left the clinic to , ( I assume), have her own practice. I could only wish her all of the success that she rightly deserves. I want to leave you with a few thoughts. Dr. Gormus is one of a few very select doctors that is very much concerned and compassionate towards her patients. She actually takes the time to listen and make accurate diagnosis. Incidentialy the 2 meds that I am now on cost me less than $15.00/mn COMBINED.If Dr. Gormus ever reads this, and I hope she does, I was probably the only patient that she ever had at the clinic that was in a wheelchair.
